Description
Here's my fanart of Nintendo's lost series after many years called "F-Zero".In this fanart, its just a typical racing with Blue Falcon, Fire Stingray, Wild Goose (Despite it looks pretty bad in my drawing, sorry), Black Bull and my own vehicle called "Dash Blaze" (which it was designed based on Formula 1 and it was piloted by fictional myself, because why the hell not).
For those you never heard (unless you're the lucky one with SNES, N64, Gamecube or Gameboy Advance), F-Zero is a racing series that was introduced in 1990 (or 1991 in US) with Super Nintendo. It takes place in the future of 2560, where racers piloting a hover vehicle in high-speed Grand Prix known as "F-Zero". Players take control four vehicles such as Golden Fox (piloted by Dr. Stewart), Wild Goose (piloted by Pico), Fire Stingray (piloted by Samurai Goroh) and the famous Blue Falcon (piloted by a Bounty Hunter racer, Captain Falcon). Players take in race in three GPs in order to be a champion of this game with difficulties. Some tracks are classic like Mute City and Big Blue, but others are absolute bonkers.
When the SNES F-Zero came out, it was well-received for the gameplay and the setting of futuristic racing, which it got a lot of inspiration from Sony with Wipeout.
In fact, Nintendo made several sequels, such as "F-Zero X" on N64 in 1998 (which it was also well-received for same gameplay and expending racers, but not for the graphic detail.), F-Zero: Maximum Velocity in GBA in 2001 (which is the first of the series in handheld for Gameboy Advance. It was also pretty good game, despite the lack of recognizable characters, although they did have some element to have a son of Captain Falcon named Kent Akechi), F-Zero GX on Gamecube in 2003 (Easily the best of the series for improvement and it made on arcade called "F-Zero AX" with SEGA. (Well, you know what they say, "If you can't beat Nintendo, join them) Though the difficulty won't help for unfair ways like aggressive and cheating AI for slamming you and their unlimited boost), and there's "F-Zero GP Legend" on GBA in the same year (though its also good, but the storyline is totally botched that it takes place on 22nd century than 26th. Despite the flaws, it actually have an anime based on the game, i remembered seeing it, it was not bad, even though i watched it with an embarrassing 4Kids Entertainment's dubs. Jeez past me, i watched Tokyo Mew Mew's bad English dub by the same company and then this? It feel like i lost all meaning without the original/subtitles version.). There's also "F-Zero Climax" on GBA in 2004, but never released outside of Japan.
Although its fun to play with F-Zero, but sadly, its been 15 years (or 14 years) that we didn't have any new games of future races. Especially it was originally to have a new installment by Criterion Games for Wii U, but that plan never happened, mainly because EA told them to make "Need for Speed: Most Wanted" in multi platform for money. Though Shigeru Miyamoto (the big creator of Nintendo series) always believe that F-Zero isn't dead that he was hoping if this underrated series will coming back on Switch. But, only time will tell for Mr. Miyamoto.

Ah yes. F-Zero. Now there's a series I haven't played in ages. But its one of my favorite Nintendo franchises. It's the game that got me into racing games.

Nice. ^^
For me, one racing game that i first played is a PC game called "Wacky Wheels" in 1994. Its rather a fun game, even if its pretty short to beat it easily. I never beat it as a kid, until i managed to beat it quickly as an adult. And yes, this game was re released on Steam. And another one that i grew up with is "Hot Wheels: Stunt Track Driver", also in PC in 1998 (There's also Gameboy Color version, but didn't care about it), its ful-motion racing game where you racing in obstacle tracks in house, bedroom, attic and a sandbox. Like before, i never manage to beat it, until i beat it as a pre-teen.
Though i never grew up with F-Zero, until i did a research since my childhood when my father and i rent "Super Smash Bros Melee". And of course as time goes, Nintendo did release three F-Zero games (F-Zero, Maximum Velocity and GP Legend) as Virtual console on Nintendo Wii U.

I see. Well that's cool. As for me, I have known F-Zero since the very beginning. But since there hasn't been any games since F-Zero Climax, most people only know Captain Falcon from the Super Smash Bros. series. Its kind of a shame that no future games were ever made considering how well received the series was. Its kind of strange.

Good for you and indeed that we still wishing for new one in Switch.
Not to mention, some fans are expecting for some character of the series for entering Smash Bros as fighters like "Black Shadow", but never happened.

Oh how I wish Leon could appear in that series. I know that's just wishful thinking on my part. But hey, I can dream.
