For a short moment the time was standing still and none of them moved. I deep look in the eyes and a soft touch later, the dragon defended the little girl and killed the other grimms.

Abzu was the first grimm when Finch has discovered her special ability to make a binding with grimms. Although the other grimms get back to normal after Finch leaves, Abzu never got back to normal, he always protects Finch. It's impossible to cut the binding between these two.
