Spring islands were wonderful. Some of the best days you ever had were on spring islands, and this one was no exception. You were leaned up against a large oak tree, enjoying the soft breeze that tousled your hair as you happily played with a certain blonde's soft locks. The handsome, self-declared prince had rested his head on your lap and fallen into a deep sleep, leaving you to wait patiently for his awakening.  To pass the time, you had picked all of the wildflowers within reach and decorated your lover as best you could. That didn't take much time, however, and you were then stuck with nothing to do but play with Sanji's hair. Much to your relief, a dear friend of your's approached to see how you were doing.

"Hello (Y/n)." Robin whispered as she crouched down beside you, glancing at Sanji with an amused expression.

"Hey Robin, what's up?" You inquired quietly.

"Nothing much. I was just wondering what kind of trouble the two of you were causing on your date this evening, but I can see that not much is happening." Robin chuckled and you responded with a light sigh and then a low chuckle.

"Yeah, this dumb ass took the full night watch last night and was exhausted this morning. So, I made him rest for a bit." Toying with a particularly soft lock of hair, you watched Sanji affectionately as you spoke.

"That's probably not the only reason why he's tired. Meeting with you in the dead of the night, every night, must be very tiring as well." Your breath hitched and your shocked expression shot up to meet her knowing gaze.

"How did you...? You heard...? Y'know we don't always..." The fact that you couldn't form a coherent sentence, and your prominent blush, only confirmed Robin's suspicions and she patted your head and chuckled lightly. You looked down in embarrassment and sighed. A few moments of silence passed before Robin stood up.

"I think I'll head into town for a bit. Would you like me to help you carry Sanji back to the ship before I leave?" Robin crossed her arms in anticipation and you thought it over for a second or so.

"Hmm... Nah, I'll just let him sleep here. Sitting here isn't so bad." You answered as your blush died down and you let your gaze wander to the wild flowers. Robin uncrossed her arms and nodded. She was about to turn towards town, but she stopped when she heard you gasp. Looking at you once more, she saw that you were staring up at her with large, excited eyes. "Hey Robin, before you go, could you do me a favor?"

Sanji's eyes fluttered open slowly to see a pure blue sky. The calming breeze and the comfort of his lover's lap had made this particular nap very enjoyable. He glanced to the side to see that you had fallen asleep with your back propped up against the oak tree, and he couldn't help but smile. He sat up slowly and looked at his surroundings. Everything was peaceful and quiet and the two of you were completely alone, which was very nice. Sanji reached into his pocket to pull out his cigarettes only for his hand to brush against something soft. He glanced down at his suit to find that his pockets were lined with wild flowers, in fact, his entire suit was almost covered in them. Anywhere a flower could be stuck, there was one. Curiously, Sanji reached his hand up to his head and carefully tapped his hair. Sure enough, there were dozens of small flowers tied into his hair and a flower crown placed delicately on top of his head. He looked down and chuckled as he pulled a rather large and beautiful flower out of his breast pocket and sniffed it.

"Looks like someone got bored." Sanji mumbled to himself before directing his gaze to you. Trying very hard not to disturb you, Sanji leaned over and laced the large flower into your hair. He then cupped your cheek and let out a small sigh. It certainly had been quite a while since the two of you could properly relax together like this. Ever since Christmas, a full three islands ago, the two of you tried to schedule regular dates, but something always came up and the two of you had eventually resorted to meeting in the middle of the night. Of course, these dates were almost always short conversations or other "things", and a proper date once in a while was definitely an appreciated change of pace. Sanji felt a little guilty that this date had only consisted of him walking you to a tree and then falling asleep on your lap, but he'd make it up to you.

"Mmmm," you stirred a bit and pressed your cheek into Sanji's hand before letting your eyes flutter open. You smiled softly and reached a hand up to lightly place it on Sanji's. ''You look pretty." Sleep still laced your voice and Sanji chuckled.

"I've noticed." Sanji slowly pulled his hand away and reached into his pocket, pulling out his cigarettes and lighting one. He took a long drag and examined one of the flower chains around his neck. Sanji then scooted over to sit next to you. The two of you enjoyed each other in silence and gazed out into the flower field surrounding you. Your gaze, however, eventually wandered over to Sanji. With a light chuckle and a calm smile, you caught Sanji's attention. "What?" He asked, raising his visible eyebrow. You shook your head slightly.

"Robin was right, delphiniums really do suit you." Sanji shot you a confused look and you reached up and pulled a small blue flower out of his hair. "See? Delphiniums." Your amused smile and happy tone triggered something in Sanji, and before he knew it, he had cupped your cheek again and brought you in for a short and sweet kiss. He then pulled away and rested his forehead against your own.

Sanji had to catch himself before he said it. Those three words that you had been patiently waiting for him to say for the longest time now. He really felt that way towards you, and he had been trying very hard to keep that fact a secret because he knew that once he said it, there was no going back. He wouldn't be able to bring himself to flirt with women guilt free any longer, even if you said that you didn't mind. He was afraid that, one day, you might become insecure about your lack of a female physique and leave him. He could not afford to lose you. You were his emotional support, his best friend, you were his everything. With that in mind, why was it so hard to say 'I love you'? Sanji really couldn't remember and realized that he was ready to tell you how he truly felt. But the perfect moment had passed, and the two of you had long since pulled apart and continued your comfortable silence by the time Sanji had reached this conclusion. So, Sanji decided to wait for another perfect moment to say how he truly felt, and he hoped that it would come very soon, because he really did love you.
