ThatΒ΄s because, foremost some titles are meant to reach a certain a younger audience( coughcoughSakuracardcaptorscoughcough ), in Japan it IS aware that thereΒ΄s a huge fanbase on older men( not only girls, neither adolescent boys )who actually are... into the most spiced themes - as this audience is one that would follow so forth buy stuff, too.

ThatΒ΄s why you see some thigns that could be figures as just lewd( and completely unnecessary to be, given the works )on so many manga and anime.

Yes, truth isnΒ΄t all pleasant as it goes.

(Still feels a bit sad.)

I am going to be 40 in a few years and the whole world of cartoons (especially anime) will no longer have a place for me as a fan. Girls are so highly visual...not even their moms existed in Disney movies. Now I will feel too old for EVERYTHING I have ever loved.

Where will I go?

Well, just because "Uncle Walt" has some sort of an issue about his mother, passed( actually, FORCED )it away into "his" movies, that doesn mean that any girl or woman sholdn't be a fan anymore - even of "his" ( coughcoughfloydgottfredscarlbarksandallt heothersheburnedtheircareerscoughcough )works!

Did you ever noticed that( concerning to the character mothers )most grownup women are vlllainous( even fullfillling a mother figure, which would be easily put as otherwise, but doesn't either )on there in Mr. D's movies, or at lwast, quite absent figures?

The evil queen "mother" in Snow white, the one on Cinderella, the other one on Sleeping beauty, and SO many others - now, explein me, who laid the eggs for Huey, Dewey and Ewey? Donald?

lol. Certainly not.

MarcosBnPinto In reply to blackhellcat [2007-02-04 14:06:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, Unca Walt's issue... however, that REAL BAD that this "issue" of his very own had been passed on to other cartoons( well, not all of them, thank goodness ), but that doesn mean that this so-called "parameter" shold be the so-called "righ" one, though - by the other hand, though, when Mr. D( "D" is for donuts merged on whisky - no talk about Homer, lol )"created" ANY positive image of a woman( motherly speaking of course ), either as older or younger, it was SO ethereal, SO innaccessible( like the Blue Fairy on "Pinocchio",or even the silly fairies on "Cinderella" )that could be recalled just as a dreamlike vision... now, how could one ever expect him to "create"( or, actually, direct someone to do whatever he wanted to be "created" - but this isn't creation, not at all )a positive image of any single, non-married and not a motherlyfigure( because those thigns are not somthienf like a woman "duty" or wahtnot )for a woman character?

Never, I guess - but it doesn mean that one couldn like the STYLE of drawing or animation that was applied in the works that bore his name( actually, it should proudly bear the name of MANY poeple way more talented than him but hat nevce accomplished their recognition and who had a WAY more open vision than Mr. D's soreseeing sight ).

Ideas that I always make up NEVER are related to romance. Well, maybe except for one. I dislike extreme romance manga/anime, and I find it so untrue. T^T

Well, about the age thing, it's usually around that age group because... I dunno. XDD I've noticed that too, but I never really cared--much. I use all age groups for my manga chars. Children, teens, and adults! But then again, adults are the ones making up the characters, now are they? And I bet you anything that they're anime fans too. One of my cousin is an adult and likes anime! <33 I don't let age limit me from things.

About the skin thing, I've noticed that too. D: We can change that, though! I plan on making more ethnic-toned characters. You should too! =]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

blackhellcat In reply to Chamaguchi [2006-12-28 20:01:11 +0000 UTC]

I think kids/teens are considered the most "attractive" group, what with their exaggerated eyes, childlike innocence, and pixyish looks. That's one of the most "exasperating" stereotypes that a few anime fans might mumble about (as well as almost NO black/hispanic characters, either!) Whatever they say, cute little girls (in fancy school uniforms) falling into love and cute little boys saving the world is becoming one huge cliche (hello, Luke Skywalker and Harry Potter? Heh.)

So many, many of us LOVE animated cartoons far into our adulthood and we just CAN'T abandon something we loved in our childhood, right? That is why Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Tom & Jerry are still with us after all those years and yes, that's the same way with Transformers and My Little Pony, too. (Today, you won't believe how MANY Transformers fans there are, both boys and girls - and some of us are even in our thirties and forties!) Yet many today's cartoons still have silly kids fighting crime as the leading characters. (What happened to "older" characters like Popeye and Fred Flintstone?)

Yes, there are some GREAT anime out there, like "Spirited Away" (some even consider it a real work of art!) and it would be cool if fans of all ages (not just teens/tweens) and colors are exposed to some great anime stuff. Just my opinion, heh.

What would you like to name the girl BTW? Think it up!^_^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chamaguchi In reply to blackhellcat [2006-12-28 22:05:52 +0000 UTC]

I guess. My art style consists of bir eyes too, and I mainly draw girls. *can't draw boys* But I see what you mean. I don't mind a little romance, but anime/manga that are overdozed with lovey-dovey stuff annoy me.

My mom still loves Disney, and Popeye. ^^

About the girl, I'll try my best to think of a name? Have any specifics?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

blackhellcat In reply to Chamaguchi [2006-12-28 22:16:35 +0000 UTC]

Nope. It might be based on her hair. Maybe say "Aqua" in Japanese? Or the way she wears her funky school uniform, heh. You decide.

Yes, that's what "shojo" manga (comics for girls) is like...all too flowery and teary-eyed and helpless, yearning look in the girl's face, too. Floaty-flighty, too. As if all of us girls think like that. And the boys look more like 10-ft.-tall elves with bony arms and flattened hair than real men who really grab your attention with his bravery, his kindness, his attitude, etc. It is not easy creating a romance who really claim your soul, BTW. (I think one tip about creating a good romance is to get the audience to FALL into love with one or both of the lovers first.)

Chamaguchi In reply to blackhellcat [2006-12-29 00:18:40 +0000 UTC]

I just wrote a long coment to this, and I accidentially deleted it. I'm so mad!!! >__< Let's see if I remembered everything that I last put before it got deleted...

Well, anime has quite a distinctive style from all the others, and I find that great about anime! Sure, it has it's "irregularities" (for instance, pointy elbows, huge eyes, etc.), but that's what makes anime unique! I love anime, and I would never quit on it. Although, I would love to branch out and learn how t draw cartoon and realism.

However, I can see what you mean.

I hate anime girls who go after guys solely on their appearance. >__> Because it would be really retarded if they went out with a sexy guy who treated her like shit (excuse my language). And the other way around.

Not all romance manga are annoying, though. Most anime I've read so far are actually really good, whether it's because of the art, characters, or the plot! There's an anime called Mermaid Melody, and it's kind of based from the Little romance thing is so annoying! I saw this AMV (anime music video) of Mermaid Melody on Youtube, and all they did was kiss! I mean, not that kissing is against the law, but all it showed were kissing scenes! 0__0lll I dislike overly lovey-dovey manga/anime. It annoys me, and makes me a bit jealous.

... Okay, maybe not a bit. Alot. XD But still....

ANYWAYS....

About the girl, yes. Um, I'm not good when it comes to picking names for other people, but I found a couple of things. I couldn't find the Japanese word for 'aqua', so I replaced it with a similar word. You can use the English or Japanese version of the word. Or none at all. Gyahh, I'm so bad at this! Anyway...:

-English: Azure, Japanese: Kenpoki
-English: Violet (because of her uniform), Japanese: Murasaki, Murasakiiro, Baioretto (Ooh, morethan one word for Violet in Japanese! XD)

I really don't know what to name her. What's her personality, and what does she like/dislike? Maybe that can help both of us out with this! =] If you don't know, then thinkthinkthink! I know you can do it!

[link] <--If you want to try for yourself and find some names, go right ahead.

(Ooh, I remembered everything! Hooray? Don't mind me. )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

blackhellcat In reply to Chamaguchi [2006-12-29 20:48:27 +0000 UTC]

Wonderful selections for names! She can be either Kenpoki or Murasaki. You pick. (Shrug) The girl (I kinda like Murasaki best) is a very cheery, happy-go-lucky kid who is uh, about 16 years old from her looks, I guess. She can get very scoldy when she's mad, I guess. But one of her poses show that she's also very clever with words and retorts. We can keep developing her if you like. You can also draw her in regular clothes; that's her absurdly fancy school uniform BTW (who ever heard of coattails on a school uniform with golden balls weighing them down. Murasaki - ok, I like this name - is work of pure fantasy.)

Anime does tend to be very, very unreal. Extremely idealized, too. Anime artists draw and animate young girls the way they WANT them to be (like HUGGGEEEEE boobs flying up, down, around, everywhere! ) And sadly, yes, a girl does get a crush on a "cute" boy who thinks she's a creep and tells her so (however, an audience still goes bananas if it turns out that the guy actually has a softness inside that suddenly gets revealed. But - if not, then the guy's just a stuck-up bastard - yes, we can use language here if you like, heh - and thus no good for the story anyway.)

Most anime (if in comics, then it's "manga") are very professionally drawn and always nice to look at, but the characters and the stories are recycled over and over again. (Do we really need another schoolgirl who discovers that she's a princess from another planet and that she has magical powers to save the world from bad witch or something? Pul-leeze!) What is more, there are just SO MANY manga books lining so many shelves at the bookstore, so no, I can't afford them all - and anyway, why should I buy still another book on some cute, silly kid who saves the world?

If romance is all about kissing and flowers, then it's very shallow and not really thinking at all. The artist just doesn't know anything about what it's REALLY like to be in love or what it's like to WANT such a cuteee hunk to look your way and maybe be your friend.^.^ It's a hard thing to draw and write - unless you have experienced some real romance, you know? (Another tip! Best stories comes from most personal experience, I'd guess!)

So do you like the name, "Murasaki" for the girl here?

May I add to her personality? Although the happy-go-lucky person she is, she has a temper to boot.

True, true. *nods* But to me, that's what makes anime/manga awesome. I love it!! *dances around* I, for one, DO NOT draw immensely humongous boobs! (I laughed so much when you mentioned that!)

In one of my journals, I posted a plot for a manga that I would like to get started on, but I have a feeling that it falls a bit into the "typical manga" section. T^T Nyahh, it's so hard to make up an unique and creative plot nowadays, because so many ideas are taken!
