Description
Created in 1986, when I was 15 (the same age as this plucky heroine above), Turtle Girl was one of the characters who appeared in the strange story of Draggle, which is about a lonely, featureless dragon that grew too large to survive comfortably.

Here is Draggle, FYI.

Turtle Girl, depicted here riding through some deep swamp on her long-necked mount, had inadvertently played a part in making poor Draggle expand to colossal size without ever stopping - by saying a magical spell (perhaps learned from her old grandmother who had been a witch?) that made her "pet" turtle grow big enough to ride on. That's just something I thought up as a silly kid easily influenced by all the 1980s fantasy movies at the time.

Done in murky browns, greens, and grays with color pencils (it WASN'T easy drawing, transferring to sketch pad, and coloring, too! )
