In the Castlevania series, Carmilla is a female vampire who appeared in some of the games as a boss (CV2, Rondo of blood/Dracula X,) but most prominently as the villain of Castlevania: Circle of the moon. 

She is based of the novella Carmilla which came out in 1872, predating Bram Stoker's Dracula by 25 years.
