Since the night of the new moon, Arndis made sure to let Sága rest throughout the day and interacted mostly with her during the evening hours and the night. Nightly strolls were not uncommon with them and the more time passed the more she understood about her. Compared to her first encounter with the black mare with her unusual pangare and the glowing Aurorae spots where she was just standing lethargic in her stable, unresponsive to anyone and everything, Arndis now was accompanied by a completely different horse.
Under the bright light of a full moon, the pair walked along a snowy path leading into the forest Sága once called home. It was still unknown where exactly the mare came from, only rumors were heard of. Without halter or lead, Arndis had to trust in the growing bond between her and the mare for her not to dash of into the dark forest and return to her former home. Sága, mischief glowing in her eyes for a second, jumped forward just to startle Arndis before snickering and rubbing her head against the shoulder of the human by her side. Arndis could swear the mare sounded amused by her doing and the reaction she caused in Arndis. Turning towards the mare, Arndis took her head in her hands and petted the mare properly.
“You really are something special, you know that… I hope you find a good home…”

With all the time Arndis had spent with the mare, she had laid a good foundation that the mare could be adopted into a good home. But… she had also grown fond of the mare herself. Just like her brother had grown fond of the stallion he was working with. It was their first cases of rehabilitation and Arndis hadn’t expected it to be so hard to let go of them. But their time had come to an end sooner than she expected, who knew a month could be so short after all. With a heavy heart, she began walking again and Sága kept close to her side, just as if the mare felt that her human companion was struggling. The mare nudged her gently with her head, a quiet snicker accompanying the move. Arndis looked towards her and started to smile, a thought and an idea taking root in her mind.
“Maybe… If they allow it… I can ask… Asking hasn’t hurt anybody…”
