Description
Just a little re-imagining of Mega charizard Y from pokemon. Tried for a more "realistic" dragony vibe.Always trying to get better. Lemme know what you think!Β

Out of all the charizards I have seen so far this is the best one! the scales have been put into hard work and I assume it had taken forty hours but in the end it was totally worth it. The wings are the best and show what power this beast has and the fire is awesome and realistic! This is a VERY realistic art, the eyes glow blue resembling what power, honour, and glory it has for it. The claws are so detailed as they are lighted by the fire on the tail and the arms are splendid indeed! You are one very talented artist and nobody will miss this! Magnificent. This art is just magnificent. I, like many other people, like detail, and you went past the awesome mark. Every tiny scale, and the realistic feeling of the fire, (mind, the whole picture too), is just outstanding. I say, this is a huge impact on the way you look at Mega-Evolved Charizard. I've seen a few other works of art from you, and you know what I say? I say keep up the great work. Some people, like myself, might not be as good as you in my perspective, but I say your art is exilent. Do keep up the work, and make more masterpieces. <3

Wow, I have to say the work you put into drawing all those scales is really stunning. Also his pose fits the whole pic very well since it's a pose of power and his grin and the giant fire-tail turns it more into a mighty dragon than a pokemon. And the detailed shapes of muscles on his body turns it even more into a great creature than 'just' a pokemone.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="262" title="Thumbs Up"/>
Also that the fire kind of continues the shape of the wings and gives the pic a great sense of balance.
I'm missing a bit the extreme light such a big fire would create in a black room and the different between shadow and light in generall but that's the only thing that's not awesome here :3

The picture looks very nice and dynamic in it's overall appearance, especially through Charizard's pose with one of his wings spread towards the observer, while the other ones fades more into the background.
A main focus on this picture is the spiraling fire. The choice of color looks very realistic, as well as its overall appearance. Although a few bright sparks flying around would have added a very nice touch, amplyfied the fire and the overall dynamic of the picture.
Charizard looks mainly well drawn, too, especially the head and shoulder section have been worked very detailed. The colouration is good in it's basics, although there are some things about it that in my opinion can be improved.
The shading is too soft for the strong lightsource of a direct fire, and takes away a lot of the image's intensity. A more intense and areal light, especially on the body parts directly exposed to it, would have given Charizard's body more plasticity and the overall piece more atmosphere.
You could have also worked out the edges of his body with more light.
In general - and that is the greatest point in this critique - the edges look rather unclean.
I see many spots where you've apparently accidently drawn over onto the black parts, like the wings. Cleaning up the edges of your drawing with the eraser tool can make a great difference, for example to work out the scales more propery.
The blueish background light adds a very nice effect and contrast to the warm orange tones, and it would surely have looked very cool if you had applied it with more contuinity. It's for example visible on Charizard's neck and leg, while the backside of the wing facing into the same direction is not affected by it.
The composition of Charizard's pose, as mentioned above, looks rather good, although it's a little bit distraction that such a small part of Charizard's wing has been cut off. The image would have looked more complete if the entire wing was shown, or you could've blurred the part of the wing closest to the observer, to create a more three-dimensional effect (although that one is a very subjective suggestion).
Apart from that, you did a great job on that Charizard! I hope my critique was at least somehow helpful to you ^_^

Thanks for all the insight!Β Things to keep in mind for next time! SomeΒ of the things you mentioned I was aware of myself too, such as the unclean edges and less-than dramatic lighting, but I never really "finished" the picture so much as have it sit around for a while until I decided to just get it out there because I was tired of looking at it. Not one of my better excuses! xDΒ

This is AMAZING.Β Just one point from me:Β the wings seem to be different shapes?Β =/Β Looking at it for the first time, my first impression is just "wow", but when I pay a little more attention it doesn't seem right.Β Overall, though, brilliant work.Β I especially love the fire and all the details on the scales. Β Job well done.
