The Grimm Dragon sped after them, swooping downward in an attenpt to grab them, but failed.
"GROOOAAAAGGGGHHH!!!" the Grimm roared, as the ground cracked, pouring out Grimms.
'Damnit! I promised that nobody will die under my watch, and now...' He glanced back at his teammates. Weiss was bleeding from multiple deep cuts, completely out of rounds, Nora right arm was hanging limply on her side, her other arm clutching tightly upon her Grenade Launcher, with only two round left, Ren was carrying an injured Blake, while Ruby...
A deep, gaping wound was on her chest, her clothes were drenched in her own blood. She had almkst passed out from the bloodloss, barely hanging on to life. She was being carried by Yang, who herself was also badly injured from multiple deep cuts.
They are desperate. The Wyvern was much much too fast for them to outrun, and with it still alive focusing on them, the Grimms will be much too organised, too smart for them to run from.
As the Grimms slowly converged upon them, he thought frantically for a way for them to get out. But there are none, if the Beast is still alive.
As the Beast slowly crawled toward them, glee and hunger on its face, something broke inside him.
He stopped running, and faced the incoming dark tide.
"What?! Jaune, keep running!!" Yang shouted.
He had made a promise, and an Arc always keep his.
"You guys go ahead..."
"Are you crazy?! Run!"
"Jaune..." Ruby whispered weakly, "no..."
Always.
"I'll be fine." He said quickly "I promise, I will be right after! Now GO!"
Weiss nodded, "Remember that, Jaune."
No matter the cost.
As they continued running, he let out a smile. No one is dying today.
He unsheathed Crocea Mors, and shifted into his fighting stance. He shouted the next words with all his lungs:
"On ne passe pas!"
