Do you noticed something? I finished it!
This drawing featuring Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) of the Twilight Series is for 's Twilight Fanart Contest
I put so much work into it, I really hope you like it!
I am not completely satisfied with it, the likeness is not as good as I hoped they would be, but I must say, I kinda like it that my drawing does not look exactly like the reference, I think it makes it a bit special
I know Edward's skin is not really lighter than Bellas, I had some problems with it, Edward is really a bitch!
His skin was really very difficult, most of the time doing this drawing I spent for his skin -.-
So now I can make the shading tutorial, I haven't forgotten it, but I wanted to finish this first, (particularly because it is baes on this drawing^^).
Tell me if it is to dark on your screen, I have an LCD and in most cases they are a bit lighter than normal monitor

Materials:
-diverse pencils (2H, F, 2B, 8B and 9B)
-mechanical pencils (2B, HB)
-erasers (normal and mostly pencil erasers)
-white acrylic for the highlights
-coloured pencils for Edwards eyes
- smooth drawing paper
Time: Dunno... I think between around 35 hours, could be more or less, at least I can say this took me much more time than all my other drawings

Very good overall, but if you're looking to improve it at all I might fiddle with Edward's neck in the lower left corner. It looks like it's a lot further towards you than it should be... maybe just fade it back a little

I have no idea who they are, but they look great! I do not think we need to make our drawings just like the photograph either. I think photographs are great for reference, but do not have to be copied. Beautiful piece of work you have here!

very nice I like the dark key to the picture it is beautiful and it suits the subject quite well....
If you don't mind helping a fellow artist---would you describe for me your technique on the really darks like the background. How did you deal with the darks to keep them from getting shiny... What kind of B pencils did you use... the Staedtler brand B pencils seem to be different... Also the paper makes a lot of difference and I'm still searching for one that will suit my liking... what kind do you use.

So, I was working on a paper with a smooth surface, and special pencils one could only get in Germany, they are made from a shop which is only settled in Germany. And the have a quite unique 8B pencil, which is reaaaaaally black and doesn't shine as much as the other pencils. I suggest you just keep an eye on such dark pencils, I doubt that there are only such pencils in Germany X)

I've been using Staedtler pencils for a few years... Are these the pencils you speak of --- I know the Staetdler 8B is quite black.... is this the brand name or is there another brand... I get over to Germany and France every now and then so let me know the specifics and maybe I can pick some up. That would be great... I enjoy your work a lot.. thanks daryl

No, I don't mean the Staedtler, I have never used these really, so I can't say anything to this ones... The brand is called "boesner", but the problem is, that one can buy them only in the shop "boesner", and one can only buy there if one is member there, and this is only possible if one has anything to do with arts, to be an artist, or an art teacher, or stuff like this... (okay, there is the possibility to be a member with only having interest in Art, but no guarantee that thisalwyas works)...so kinda complicated to get these pencils^^

This work is clearly head and shoulders above any of the brilliant works I have seen done on Bella & Edward. The extra depth to the portrait adds depth to their emotional state as well. It is a very raw piece and you have done a superb job on it!!

The first thing that strikes me about this piece is how dark it is around them and how they emerge from this darkness. THe secind thing is how easy you make it look! that's how good art should look, effortless. Well done

Wow das bild gefällt mir richtig gut. Das hat es was richtig greifbar plastisches und der starke kontrast passt wirklich gut. Ich finde dadurch hast du eine klasse atmosphäre erzeugt. Bei dem Mann stört mich irgendwas am auge, und das ist nicht die farbe...vielleicht das fehlende highlight in der pupille...aber ihn trifft das licht ja auch anders als das mädchen. Naja, ich kann nicht den finger drauf legen, aber irgendwas stört mich da noch
Ansonsten tolle arbeit, grade das mädchen sieht prima aus, ihre augen und lippen kommen sehr gut zur geltung

Erstmal vielen lieben dnk für den ausführlichen Kommenatr, freut mich wirklich sehr! Ich fidne Edward allgemein etwas misslungener als Bella (also das Mädchen), das liegt aber nicht nur an den AUgen. Ich ahbe es übrigens auch mit Lichtreflex probiert gehabt, aber das sah noch mehrkwürdiger aus, weshalb ich es dann auch weggelassen habe (auf der Vorlage war mein ich auch kein Lichtreflex). Andererseits ist es doch mit Sicherheit auch eine Eigenart an Vampiren, komsich auszusehen
