Yea, it's from the manga, not the anime. In the anime, al says something like 'Oh great, now my arm's fallen off, today is a terible day!"
But that's not as funny.

I think it depends on whether you're talking about the dub or who fansubbed it. In the [fansubbed] ep I saw with that, he said something along the lines of, "Now my arm fell off! Brother, you're such an idiot!"
