Description
Signs that you were probably meant to be a plush maker: when you willingly spend your day off sewing a plush prototype, because you're so excited about it that you don't want to wait until you've caught up enough on commissions to take the time during the work week.Anyhow, I just HAD to jump on the Flutterbat bandwagon, but I think mine is slightly unique, given I haven't seen any other hanging Flutterbats yet.
This is very much a prototype, I've already sketched out an updated pattern that fixes a few issues here, and the ones I make for Everfree will have less visible snaps, but this one still came out pretty darn cute, I think!

someone stopped by my booth at Ciderfest to show me one of these that they got at Bronycon. Even more adorable in person!

He he he. Sometimes I do, but with Bronycon coming up and with owing a huge number of plushes to kickstarter backers right now I really can't commit to any trades.

I'll have a bunch of them there. :3 Though last year they sold out on the first day. This year I'm trying to bring more.

If I go, I'm going to miss the first day of the convention because of school! I hope I make it in time...

Does that include economic international shipping to the uk?
Whats the turn around time?

No, that's before shipping. To the UK is $6. As for turn around time, I have a few of these pre-made, so I could just send one out now.

fav.me/d6zx0v4 and fav.me/d70jivc are two examples of hanging flutterbats—the first link being the first one made in the hanging style. Nonetheless, yours is definitely an awesome design, especially being so small!

Nope. I don't like to sell on ebay.

I never would have thought anyone wouldn't have wanted to sell on ebay. Unless you do paypal and you'll send the plushies by mail.

Well yes, that's rather the idea. Why should I pay fees to deal with the uncertainty of an auction that might sell for far less than it's really worth, when I can just have customers pay me directly for what they want?

I don't even know where any of the conventions are held. Never bothered to look since none are held close to where I live.

Conventions? I mean pay me directly online. I do sell at conventions, but I do more online commissions.

Instead of snaps, you could sew a weak magnet into the wing tips.

Bladespark In reply to agileus [2014-01-07 23:05:59 +0000 UTC]
Well, magnets don't come with loops to sew on like snaps do, so sewing in magnets is a huge pain that takes forever. Since I'm trying to keep these simple enough to sell at a reasonable price, I probably will stick with snaps.

What about velcro? That would probably work best.

How is velcro better than a snap?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MountainLygon In reply to Bladespark [2014-01-08 04:13:42 +0000 UTC]
Easier to open and close, which also makes it less likely to pull away from the fabric. If you manage to find velcro that's the same color as your fabric, it's also a bit more inconspicuous than the snap.

Are you only selling them at Everfree, or will you be selling them online in the future as well?

Bladespark In reply to MsCorgi [2014-01-07 03:12:05 +0000 UTC]
I'm probably not going to do any premades for online sale, but I'm always happy to take commissions, so somebody could commission one. Price-wise they're going to be $65 I think.
