Daisaku Kusama/Johnny Sokko. He's the one who controls Giant Robo with the watch he's wearing. When Giant Robo was dubbed into English in the 70s, the show was called Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot.

And the two Robots?

The one on the right is Giant Robo(Called simply Giant Robot in the English dub), the main "hero" robot of the series. Johnny/Daisaku controls him with a wristwatch by saying commands into it(Ex: "Giant Robot, use your eye lasers!"). The robot was originally built by the Gargoyle Gang(Big Fire in the Japanese version), the villains of the show, but Johnny got control of it by accident when he and a secret agent named Jerry Mano found it in a secret weapons lab. After this, Johnny joins Jerry in the Unicorn Organization, an international league of secret agents that fight the Gargoyle Gang and their leader, the alien conqueror called Emperor Guillotine. Robo himself has a shitton of weapons at his disposal, including finger missiles, eye lasers, a megaton punch, a flamethrower, etc.
The one on the left is GR-2(Torozon in the English dub). He's the second giant robot that Gargoyle Gang builds and is super powerful(He almost beats Giant Robo in both his appearances). He's sort of like Mechagodzilla in that he's the ultra-powerful rival to the hero. His powers include a rocket punch(like Mazinger Z), firing off the crescent horn on his head as an explosive, eye lasers of his own, and burrowing.
Definitely check out the series if you're a fan of stuff like Godzilla or Ultraman. The "Johnny Sokko" dub is on Amazon, Hulu, and archive.org.Β
