Description One of my OBTs (pterinochilius murinus aka Usambara tarantula, or "orange bitey thing") decided to make an appearance today, so I got some pictures More can be seen at [link]

OBTs have the potential to cause your entire arm to go numb from one bite, causing intense pain and dizziness, ringing of the ears, feeling of drunken-ness, muscle cramps, rashes as well as possibly causing permanent nerve damage or permanent black spots to the bite area. I don't plan on handling these any time in the near future.

Also, if you like insects/inverts enough to have any interest in a community, you should join insectgeeks.com ***NOTE: Before joining, please view the bottom of this description!!***

I gotta pimp this site, I've been a member for nearly a year now, and have made a lot of friends that share my love for inverts It's like MySpace but for bug lovers, without the spam, tacky flashy stuff and other drawbacks. In other words, it's just a brilliant community for bug-lovers to communicate, share photos, videos, make forum and blog posts, quizzes, polls, etc! You also get "butterfly points" for commenting and posting pictures that you can use to send virtual gifts, sorta like LJ but... buggy! You also get the points for sending out successful referrals >.>; I can't pimp this site enough. It's still fairly new, but the few members there are, are usually quite active and friendly. Whether you are an invertebrate owner or admirer, or if you want to own a species you're unfamiliar with and want to study up on first, this is definitely the site for you

***If you want to join, please help me get referrals by simply sending me your email so I can send you the referral first. I'd appreciate it a lot!!***

Awww!!!! He's so cute and fluffy! I really don't understand the fear of spiders. I always save them before people can step on them. I once stood over a spider and glared at my uncle because he wanted to kill it.

Oof, it's just beautiful. The blue tint is unbelievable. How did you get the shot without spooking it back into its hidey-hole?

And I'm really thinking about joining up at insectgeeks. Invertebrates are just fascinatingly zen. <3 I'd like some company in my little world of quiet invert worship.

I found out about it from you, so I'll definitely ask you for a referral soon.

Vibrations frighten them more than light, though they don't initially come out unless they've been in the dark for a while. The flash didn't seem to bother it at all

Anxious to have another tarantula lover on the site Just note me with your email whenever!
