Description Seriously, I'm sick of everyone who uses hard-to-read chatspeak using the "We're not in school!" excuse.
And I'm not exaggerating, basically EVERYONE uses that excuse to justify typing like a total retard.

Incorrect use of an ellipsis.

I know. I know how and when to use ellipsis, I just regularly type them after a sentence to convey how I feel about a subject. It's like second nature to me.

In that case, don't criticize others' use of grammar.

You obviously don't understand the reason why I'm using this stamp, and since you're being an ass about it I'm not going to explain anything to you.

"*Uses* I dislike it when people type incorrectly..."
You're using this stamp because you dislike it when people type incorrectly. So yeah, I understand the reason you're using it, because you said so in our first comment. I'm just saying it's ironic how you dislike people using improper grammar when you do so yourself.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

KsNandS In reply to alienfingers [2010-12-21 01:48:50 +0000 UTC]

Also, I don't think you really understand why I'm using it.

alienfingers In reply to KsNandS [2010-12-21 10:12:52 +0000 UTC]

Then you must be such a deep and brooding individual that to discover your motive to use a stamp would transcend rational logic. How mysterious.

"Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from the Ancient Greek: αΌ”Ξ»Ξ»Ξ΅ΞΉΟˆΞΉΟ‚, Γ©lleipsis, "omission") is a mark or series of marks that usually indicate an intentional omission of a word in the original text. An ellipsis can also be used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought, or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence (aposiopesis) (apostrophe and ellipsis mixed). When placed at the end of a sentence, the ellipsis can also inspire a feeling of melancholy longing. The ellipsis calls for a slight pause in speech."

Read up on your grammar a bit more before you criticize others' grammar please.

Melancholy: [link]

Synonyms: sadness, dejection, despondency. 2. seriousness. 4. gloomy, despondent, blue, dispirited, sorrowful, dismal, doleful, glum, downcast. 6. serious.

I believe, according to the information above that I used it correctly, thank you very much.

I hope these comments get deleted...

"To indicate a pause in speech"

A pause before - oh yeah, nothing at all.

KsNandS In reply to alienfingers [2010-12-21 20:12:17 +0000 UTC]

Correction: May be used to indicate a pause in speech, at the end of a sentence trailing off into silence.

You're not reading this very carefully are you? I swear, you're an Englishman and you didn't analyze the description carefully? *Shaking his finger*

My mum, she told me to call her that, (Ye Olde Britishe Tea Shoppe owner here in town) would slap the bloody hell out of you. I don't know why you persist in correcting my "grammatical mistakes". I know when to use them thank you, and in all honesty, I don't need your input.

By the way, I checked out your page last night and saw that you had some pretty bad mistakes too. I swear, I must have my grandmother's British blood because it's boiling a bit because you have the audacity to make a comment implying that I have imperfect grammar. Thanks for making me realize how much British she gave me.

I also apologize to for flooding the comments box.

I fucking hate Britfags.
Wow, we come from a country knows for a slightly higher class then the rest of the world, so what?
Bloody hell apples and pears etc.

The bad mistakes on my page tend to be because I'm just writing informally and that, referring to my first point on this page, that it really doesn't matter.

The only reason I pointed out your grammar is becaue you were the one who hated people typing incorrectly, when it was you who did so as well.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't give a fuck what people spell like on the internet.

Well guess what "Britfag" (I'm actually part Irish) my grammar isn't incorrect at all. You claim you know everything, but actually you're just some punk who knows a bunch of big words, and you criticize people for their mistakes when you don't know shit yourself, besides that's the wrong tense dummy. It's "Known".

The only reason I pointed out your grammar is becaue you were the one who hated people typing incorrectly, when it was you who did so as well.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't give a fuck what people spell like on the internet.

I didn't type mine incorrectly because an ellipsis it was used as an indication of silence placed at the END of the sentence. By the way, you spelt "because" wrong.
Looks like you were pretty much to eager-beaver to send this message to me.

I'd like to argue with you more but I fine that just blocking you would be the wisest choice because we're flooding the comments page, which is insanely rude.

So long, loser...

Just putting things in perspective.
They said they hate how they can't spell; at least they don't have a life threatening illness.

alienfingers In reply to akatsuki-ayame [2010-12-22 01:10:12 +0000 UTC]

No.

They say they feel incredibly unfortunate because they can't speel.

Some people have incurable, life threatening conditions.

So what? You cant spell. Life could be a lot worse.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

akatsuki-ayame In reply to alienfingers [2010-12-22 01:48:59 +0000 UTC]

They aren't referring to a few typos, they're referring to people who speak in chat speak and/or 1337. There is a large difference, and aids had nothing to do with the stamp, they're just stating something they dislike. Such as you disliking that they dislike it. I could say the same thing back to you that you said, such as, "It could be worse than them not liking typos, you could have aids," and in either, it doesn't sound very educated a statement to me.

No, I was talking about the people who feel bad about themselves for not being able to spell correctly - themselves.
This is why I don't like this whole "grammar must be perfect, even on the internet", becsuse it makes people who actually can't do it feel bad about themselves, when they really have nothing wrong.

I like to type badly sometimes... But only when I'm feeling silly. Not all the time. In fact, when I'm talking to someone with bad grammar, I like to be EXTRA careful with my spelling and such, just to see if they notice. :3

Nice. ^^ We GO to school to learn to spell and use correct grammar, among other things. What you learn there will rub off on you, subconsciously. We hope. (I call the line on algebra though. Didn't need it at all. You don't need it to work in a nursing home.) I'm no Grammar Nazi or anything, but well-typed comments just are easier on the brain and flow better. Forgetting words doesn't help either. It's like "wtf?" I read alot so I have an advantage. There are kids in my school who can't spell yet they graduate. And one kid, 13, didn't know how to spell "legs". They spelled it "lagges". Half my brain died reading that comment.

I'm learning to read Textspeak, cause you just can't win. Students have written essays and answered test questions in Textspeak. Gee...wonder why they failed?
