Description I decided to finally jump onto the bandwagon. I might do art vs artist next. n_n; /late bandwagoner

Also, I have been influenced and inspired by SO MANY THINGS. This is the third time I'm changing the main file because I keep forgetting important ones. xD;

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

This show O MG <33
You have NO idea how much this show has influenced me. It's influenced my art style, my storytelling, hell it's influenced my DREAM. It partly inspired me to be more realistic in my stories without being 100% pessimistic. For some reason, it never crossed my mind that magical girl stories (my favorite genre) could have a mature and realistic plot without avoiding the negative side of that, that it's okay for a main character to die and NOT be magically revived, that it's okay for not everyone to be bffs despite sharing a power and an enemy. I know PMMM wasn't the first magical girl show to delve into mature storytelling, but it was the first one I was exposed to and it changed how I looked at my stories, how I wrote my stories. I know want to be a cartoonist with shows that do exactly that but aren't negative 24/7. It's because of this show that I started being more diverse in moods with the plots I created and it's a show I still love and look up to.

Tokyo Mew Mew

Not nearly as big an influence as some others on this list, but it was an influence. Like PMMM, it influenced my art style, storytelling, and character designs. Mostly the latter. Also I used to be super obsessed with it?? To the point that I even liked the dub and watched it whenever it was on TV. Were either the dub or original particularly unique in their stories and justifications? Eh, not really. Standard magical girl fair and even I have to admit how the girls got their powers was, well, stupid and not very well-thought out. Still, I absolutely loved it and, to this day, still own every manga volume released in the States. And yes, I do like a La Mode and Beri/Berry.

Rea/SkittyStrawberries

Probably one of my biggest artist influences (I had a few). She didn't influence my art style, but she did inspire me to be less childish in rl and to be happy with my art style instead of going back to my generic anime style (and while I like my old art style, it really was a generic anime style and not at all original). She inspires me to draw, to be unique, and to keep trying difficult art objectives even though they're difficult.

Kingdom Hearts

Hey, friends and followers who have known me from back when this account was still called guardianpinkneko, remember my Kingdom Hearts phase? Sure you do! For pages upon pages, my art is 99% KH-related and if it's not empowering Kairi or supporting a favorite ship (SoKai, RokuNami, TerrAqua), it's bashing Xion relentlessly into the ground. Good times, good times. Like a lot of things on this list, KH influenced my art style, character designs, and storytelling, more so the latter. It still inspires my storytelling and characterization to this day, even though the quality of KH's story has gone downhill considerably.

Tenchi Universe/Pretty Sammy

Okay, so this one may come as a surprise as I've never really talked about this before, but if it wasn't for the Pretty Sammy episode of Tenchi Universe, I may have never become an artist. Yep, Tenchi Universe's Pretty Sammy is what got me into drawing. I wasn't really big into art until that episode and I don't really know what it was that did it, but I just wanted to draw because of that episode. My first characters were knock-offs of some Ranma 1/2 characters that was on an advertisement on the Tenchi Universe box (these characters: i.ebayimg.com/images/g/bAUAAOx… ). I made a shitty manga on the backs of index cards using these 2 knock-offs and eventually made a shitty manga on the backs of advertisements (I hadn't heard of sketchbooks yet okay) using a Pretty Sammy knock-off named Sailor Sammy (I WAS SO SUBTLE). I did branch away from character knock-offs mostly after that, but Pretty Sammy gave me my start.

Inuyasha

Okay, THIS signaled the last of my knock-offs, but Inuyasha also inspired me to create original characters that were actually original (except for Hari, my Inuyasha/Koga knock-off). Yep, Hari and Himiko (these two fuckers: fav.me/d15fpta ) were inspired by Inuyasha. BIG SHOCK HUH. To her credit, Himiko wasn't a Kagome knock-off; I based her a bit on Kagome story-wise, but I mostly gave her a different personality and design, as I was striving to be more original and create a unique character design. The plot of the story involving these two had a lot of Inuyasha elements, though. Lead girl ending up in a different world where she meets lead boy, main characters that are pissy with each other the entire story but secretly fall in love with each other, a past love for lead boy that returns and creates a completely unnecessary love triangle (though she, too, was very different personality- and design-wise from Kikyou). Still, Inuyasha did get me into creating more intricate stories for my characters rather than going for shallow and bland plots. My stories evolved because of my love for this show. I'm not really that into it anymore, but I thank Inuyasha for its influence on my works.

Neopets

Oh boy here we go. My first experience roleplaying happened on this site and, as a result, it influenced my art style, character designs, storytelling, backstory writing, characterization, and everything in between. I become a possessive, rule-nazi bitch on this site, but my experiences really helped shape my artistic side and me as a person in general.

Vivziepop/VivsMind

Another artist inspiration. <3 She's what inspired me to strive for a more unique art style instead of a generic Disney/Dreamworks style or generic anime style. Whenever I get discouraged because my style is sometimes hard to translate into certain expressions, poses, and species, I look at her art and helps me keep striving to keep my style instead of falling back into the "easier" yet generic styles. I hope I can hone my style as well as she has honed hers.

Pokemon

It wasn't until Neopets that Pokemon became an inspiration. I don't know why I never realized the kind of plots and characterization that goes into Pokemon and that the Pokemon species, like Neopets, could be turned into unique OCs. As time goes on, Pokemon of all generations just inspires me more and more with Pokemon X and Super Pokemon Mystery Dungeon being the biggest inspiration of the series. This series was my childhood (and now my adulthood) and I can't deny that it's had an influence on my life and has helped shape me into the person I am today. I owe a lot to this series.

How to Train Your Dragon

Much like the artists I've mentioned, Dreamworks, especially HTTYD inspired me to keep striving for my unique style and made me want to work as an animator and eventual lead artist at Dreamworks (though that desire has morphed into one to be a cartoonist and animator). Though my dream has changed, Dreamworks helped me through a lot and inspired me when I needed it most.

Pretty Cure

Woo boy. Another obsessive point in my life. xD; It didn't really show in deviantART, but I did talk about it a bit on Tumblr (browse my Pretty Cure tag seriously) and I was SUPER into it in rl to the point of drawing it in my sketchbooks a lot, creating fan OCs, and buying the expensive merchandise. It wasn't a huge inspiration artistically, mostly in the character designing and creating, but it did inspire me in some things so it deserves a spot here.

Steven Universe

FUCK YES. This is the show that made me ultimately decide on a dream that I am 100% in love with. Steven Universe made me want to become a cartoonist, creating my own cartoons that are family-friendly but feature mature plotlines and characters like Steven Universe and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I friggin LOVE this show and it never ceases to inspire and influence me. I don't draw it enough and I feel bad about that. :c I should draw fanart more, maybe even do a SU next gen??

The Princess and the Frog

Okay, so Disney is an inspiration in general (I may want to be a cartoonist, but I wouldn't reject a job as an animator at Disney), but this movie in general is what made me do a turn-around with my artistic life. Something about it just made me take my art and my future art career more seriously. That's when I moved to Relaxn (originally AWishingStar) and changed to a more western art style. It also made me realize that I did have the patience for animating and that I wanted to be an animator. TPatF isn't one of my major faves (I love it, but there's a lot of Disney movies I love more), but I'm very grateful for what it made me do and realize. <3

blue-fish

I can't link to her because she deactivated (sample of her art here: orig10.deviantart.net/75e2/f/2… ). :c But she was an artist I REALLY looked up to in my earlier deviantART days and her art helped me get better at drawing animals and my desire to be as good as her helped me improve my art. She also helped inspire my fursona and characterization.

Lucky/luckydraik /dipnoi

My friend Lucky/Kate~ <3 She was an inspiration from day 1. I met her when I joined my first RP community on Neopets called the Lupe Chats (eventually changed to the Pet Chats since people RP'd more than just their lupes there). Her characters Aish and Theo were two of the most popular characters at the RP, her art was among the most popular in that community, and it inspired SO MUCH of my artistic life you have no idea. ;w; My art quality, my art style, my character designs, my characterizations, my plots, my backstories, I was inspired so much by her and I know I improved because of her and her encouragement. <3 Ily Lucky

Disney

An artist staple. Of course Disney has inspired me in all aspects of art and, as I mentioned with TPatF, it eventually inspired me to become an animator. Although my dreams of working at an art studio (like Dreamworks and Disney) have changed, their movies still inspire me and I would still love to be able to work on even just one movie. ;w; It'll probably never happen but hey a girl can dream.

Warriors

Well duh. Of COURSE this stupid series has influenced me. xD Not just the series, but the community, too! At first, it was just the series, and what the series did was influence my storytelling. I know I've mentioned a lot of things that influenced my storytelling, backstories, writing in general blah blah blah but Warriors is the one that, aside from SU and PMMM, influenced that aspect of my art the most heavily. Before SU and PMMM, Warriors made me really delve into my writing, really get into the plots I created, the stories I created, the characterization of the characters I created and how well they meshed with other peoples characters. What SU and PMMM finished, Warriors started. And the fandom community has influenced me even more, in artistic style, making my very first speedpaints,  and motivation to get off my lazy butt and actually fucking animate. All in all, Warriors is one of the biggest influences on my artistic life and I will always hold it dear for that.
