My vote goes for the repeating beam rifle. It looks like that more than a grenade launcher. Of course, grenades of the future might not look anything like ones we have now, and miniaturization could've done wonders to allow them to fit into such a small weapon.
As for the armor, I like this version better. The other version does look more retro, but this one looks more menacing.

By the looks of the muzzle I would say it's more likely to be the rifle than the launcher, plus the handling. Or it could be one of those guns with grenade launcher attachments.
