Β I'm not saying that this young lady is busy cackling out a wicked laugh, but she probably SHOULD be! Β

Β I never ceases to amuse me that even the Heroes of the Imperium look exactly like the most classic villains of almost every other Science Fiction setting!Β

It's not really surprising when you realize that the line between what constitutes a hero and what constitutes a villain in the Grim and murky Warhammer 40K background is often a very thin and wavering one.

Β It'll definitely trip you up (and possibly detonate something high explosive) if you don't pay close attention! Β Β

I love the name! That's why I chose it!

Oddly enough I too liked the name--so much so I had my RT RPG character take it as their own. BTW, pure trivia question here, do you think it's pronounced 'ee-cail' or 'eh-sail'?

Oooh another one who likes the name! Yay! And I always thought of it as being ee-kale~

Meh, personal interpretation 'til the day GeeDubs bothers sorting out it's multi-million Gothic Dialects, but I think 'eh-sail' harkens to the spirit of Rogue Trading--namely sea-ships in space with little to no changes in terms or acting, at least in the new BFG game; in most literature 40k is ironically among the few who try to keep the 'logic' of extreme-distance 'sniping' that would according to science be inherent to astral combat...and yet for all star wars is distinctly lacking in real 'superpowers' as most DC/Marvel fans would accept them e.g. pyrokinesis, never mind thigns like demons or hellish lightspeeds, it's the 'harder' sci-fi genres that oft descend into stellar dogfighting! ironic, no?

True, 'eh-sail' sounds more ship-ish, but ee-kale is just easier for me to read and say I suppose O3O Or it might be where I am from that makes me say it like that.Β
That is also true, almost all space based sci-fis tend to do ship to ship combat as close up engagements, sometimes it is nice to see a longer range fight!

Precisely--i mean okay, multi-missile macross massacre isn't QUITE so epic as a Bulletstorm half the time, but even if an author were to say something like 'radiation makes ranged targetting difficult/tibenna gaseous lasers dissipate at shorter ranges but are worth it because unlike solid ammo they recharge'--and 1 admits such excuses are generally enough to continue the suspension of disbelief--what I cannot understand is why nobody takes advantage of spatial inertia to do even MORE cool things than atmospheric fights e.g. wing-thrusters spinning a starfighter [a] just enough to fire at the rear before resuming forward face or [b] doing full 180s or even omnidirectional 360s like a spinning top-come-disco ball of death, sorta like Vader here [www.youtube.com/watch?v=opmWHg⦠at 01.49 mins, WHILE STILL MOVING FORWARD of their enviorment's own accord. Ammiright?

Ee-Kale sounds most latin, so that's where I tend to go with WH pronunciations...

wow, necromancy much?
Still, nice to hear from you again DDB-RP!
And while i appreciate the logic, i still prefer 'eh-sail', but to each their own.
