Just for clarification, that poisoned Pidgey isn't Echo. It's just the Pidgey that killed Sting, and I forgot how it died, so I just made it poisoned.

That was pretty much for comedic purposes, and I didn't plan that far ahead about the disease at the time. But if I had to explain it, I'd say that Rock Pokemon can break and rejoin themselves when they recover. I believe Swordplayer did that in his Nuzlocke.

So basically its half a plothole, because the manga's onix broke up rock per rock, and not actually sliced in half.
