Damn that kid with shorts. He creeped me out in my Firered and Heartgold gameplay. Having shorts in traveling doesn't help you go through the weather.

i really like this, and i love your take on the nuzlocke, that it isn't some choice, (other than catching restrictions) but some sort of curse or life challenge, makes the whole thing seem a little less... optional, and more meaningful

Nice reference to the original in the 6th-to-last panel. I'm surprised that line isn't used often outside the original. While the art may not be the best, it is far from the worst (see season 1 of the original Nuzlocke comic for that honor). It seems like you've got some potential at comic making. Keep with it.
