Description Mia was lost. Well maybe that was the wrong term. For one to be lost one had to have a destination to begin with. She had just been wandering, going from one place to another without a clear idea for where it was she was going. So she was lost in a matter of speaking. She just knew that she was searching for Big Sis. Mia didn't know where Big Sis was, she just knew that Big Sis was in the direction she was going. She didn't know why but she had a feeling in her gut that constantly pulled her in the right direction. Mia didn't have anything else, no memories before waking in the middle of nowhere and no one to look over her, so she trusted the feeling. It had to be right. Otherwise she really would have nothing. She just the knew that Big Sis would be able to help.
Mia felt very alone as she went from place to place, never staying for long. The pull on her heart told her that she had to keep moving. That it was imperative that she find Big Sis as soon as possible. The search for Big Sis kept her too busy to go into the human settlements to find friends but Mia had come across a human or two along the road. Sadly, whenever she had approached hoping to get some help finding Big Sis, they had run away from her.
The first time they had run, Mia had felt like crying. She had sat in the abandoned camp and wondered why they had bolted. Was she the reason they had gone, or was there something else? No. She had just not been nice enough. She couldn't just give up. The next time she saw a human she would approached a little more cautiously.
Night had fallen by the time she came to the next human camp. It was easy enough to find. The humans had the habit of making fires that a Neko could smell for miles around. Especially if they were cooking fish. Mia came to the edge of the camp but stayed hidden for a while, observing. The human that sat before the fire was a bit rough in appearance but seemed like he would be friendly enough. He poked at the fire as to make his dinner cook faster. Mia wondered if he would share some of the tasty looking fish. First she would have to approach him. She slowly walked out of her concealment.
“Hello, nya.” She offered, coming into the light. “That is some good smelling fish nyou are cooking.”
The man started at the sound of her voice and took a minute for his eyes to adjust to the light. When he could make out her figure his eyes expanded in freight and a look of terror came on his face. Mia frowned at his reaction and backed up.
“I mean nyou nyo harm, nyuman.” She said trying to calm the fearful man. “I was just hoping nyou and I could be friends, nya.”
Although her words were sincere, they brought no peace to the quaking man. He started babbling incoherently as he distanced himself from her, falling over his sleeping bag. Mia let her concern show as she followed him slowly. Apparently, her approach was too much for the man, because his nerves broke and he screamed and ran as fast as he could into the night. Mia felt her ears flatten as she watched him disappear into the darkness. She didn't know why all the humans were scared of her. She just wanted to make friends that could help her find Big Sis.
Soon, the smell of the humans dinner brought Mia out of her depression. She looked over to see that there was a row of fish roasting over the fire pit. The smell made Mia's mouth water but she held herself back. She knew that taking something that didn't belong to her was bad, but with each passing second the smell was becoming more enticing. Her mouth watered as she stared at the fish sitting over the fire on their sticks.
Deciding that one bite wouldn't be such a bad thing, Mia slid the first fish off the stick. Blowing on it to cool it faster, she became impatient and took the first bite. Although it burned the sensitive tongue a little, the flavor of the fish was so good she thought she had gone to heaven. She took another bite, savoring the second mouthful. With each bite she enjoyed the rich flavor of it moving across her taste buds even more. After the first fish was gone she reached for the next one, then the next. Each fish was better than one before. Soon she came to the last bite and relished it the most of all. Sitting back, contented, she rubbed her full belly, remembering each morsel.
A sudden realization brought her out of her musing. She had eaten all of the human's fish. Her ears flattened with the shame of what she had done, but with the fish already gone what was there to do. She was about to slink out of camp when she remembered something. Surely THAT would be a fair trade for the delicious fish. Skipping back, she placed her most prized treasure, a small rubber ball she had found, on the bed roll. Although she would miss the ball dearly, she felt better knowing that she had done the right thing.

She had entered the crumbled remains of the human cities a few times in her pursuit of Big Sis. On those occasions she had often come across groups of Nekos on patrol. Mia was kind of nervous when she first saw the group of cats. With how the humans had treated her, what if the Nekos were just as scared of her? Watching for a while she saw that, even though they were technically patrolling the street, they were having the time of their lives. Their path was erratic as they would jump onto beams to try their balance then go tearing after one another at top speed giggling up a storm. She felt less afraid as she watched their carefree attitude, so unlike the humans she had seen. Someone having that much fun couldn't possibly be bad, right? She decided to approach them in regards to Big Sis' location and see if they could help her out.
“Hello.” She had greeted them with a friendly smile, even though she was still nervous. “Nyou look like nyou are having fun, nya.”
They stopped their games, hearing the new voice. When they saw the owner was one of their own they had ran over to her playfully.
“Hello!” They offered up, excitedly. “Has Big Sister come to play with us?”
“Mia is nyot Big Sis, nya.” Mia had said confused. “Mia is Mia.”
They had giggled. Two of the group seemed to be bouncing on the spot, anxious to get back to their game. Only the leader seemed to be able to sit still for long, if only barely.
“But nyou are a big sister, nya. The mark on nyour tail says so.” The leader explained, pointing at the tip of Mia's tail. Mia looked and saw the gold strip near the end. She knew they had always been there but never knew that they actually meant something.
“This is the first time Mia has come across one of her own, nya.” Mia said turning back to the group. The two in the back had resumed their game of chase but stayed close to the leader. “Mia was   wondering if nyou could help her find Big Sis, nya?” Mia asked hopefully.
“We have not seen a Big Sister other then nyou all day.” The leader said, obviously wanting to go join the others in their game.
“Would nyou be able to help Mia look, then?” Mia asked, finding it hard to not join in the game herself. It just looked so fun.
“We would but Mother gave us an important job.” The Neko answered apologetically. The others behind her stopped for a second, nodding their agreement before resuming. They looked very proud to be given such an important task. “Mother said there are nyumans out here that are lonely and unhappy and nyeed our help to find there happiness, nya”
“Oh, Ok.” Mia said. “That does sound important.” She was sad that they would not be able to help but she didn't want to get in their way.
The leader cocked her head at Mia in a worried way, then her expression changed to one of excitement. She grabbed Mia's paws and bouncing eagerly, “Maybe nyou would like to help us with our important task, nya?”
Mia thought about it for a moment before she shook her head. “Mia has her own important task of finding Big Sis.” She explained.
“That sounds very important.” The leader said, happily. “When you find her you will have to bring her to Home and we can all play together then.”
“That sounds like fun, nya.” Mia replied with her own excitement, “ Mia has to go nyow but she promises to bring Bis Sis home. Then we all can play together, nya.”
She waved to the group as she departed. “If you see Big Sis on nyour patrol, please tell her that Mia is looking for her.”
“Ok. We can do that, nya.” With that the Nekos raced off waving a farewell of their own to the lone figure. Mia's ears were flat, showing her sadness at being left alone again. She wished that she could find Big Sis quickly. When she did, Mia knew that she would never be alone again; but for right now she would have to bear with it until she did.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the weather became warmer, Mia started to wonder if she would ever find Big Sis. She had been following the pull of her heart for such a long time with no sign that her search would ever end. This time the pull was in the direction of one of the walled towns she had seen around. She knew that she had avoided those because of the large concentration of humans, but the pull was the strongest it had been in a long time, so she decided that she would chance it. She had always been curious just what the humans did behind the walls.
Mia entered the crumbling city ruins that surrounded the walls with a bit of apprehension. It was kind of scary with all those weakened structures around ready to crush her. She knew that she was faster than most humans, but what would happen if she couldn't get out of the way in time? Mia shivered at the thought but moved farther into the foreboding surroundings.
She had been walking for a while when she felt it, a pull on her heart. This one was stronger than any she had felt before. She was excited but a little worried. What if the feeling was wrong? She moved more quickly down the street muttering to herself.
“Must find her... Big Sis must be near, nya... Mia can just feel it.”
She came to an intersection and chose one at random. Moving down the street, she became more worried. The pull was getting weaker. Had she taken a wrong turn?
“Why is it so hard to find just one person, nya!” She yelled to no one. When the answer didn't come, she sighed. Taking a minute, she decide to trust the first inclination that told her that Big Sis was somewhere in the town. Turning around she started off in the direction of the gate.
After a while the gate came into view and she looked around, nervous. Usually when she had come upon a town, there had been a bunch of scary-looking humans walking in front of the gate. Luckily, this time she didn't see any. She found it a bit weird that the gate was left wide open. Looking inside she caught her first look at the inside of a human settlement.
It wasn't quite what she had imagined. Everything inside looked like it was just thrown together, as if the builder had decided that the construction was “Good Enough”. Mia was disappointed. She had expected there to be pretty buildings and lots of comfy pillows for them to curl up for a nap on.  Instead everything looked ugly and depressing. How could the humans live in place like this without trying to make it pretty? Mia just couldn't understand. When she found Big Sis she knew that they would have to teach the humans how to make things pretty.
There was a big commotion going on in the center town. Curiosity overcoming her, Mia headed in the direction the noise was coming from. As the open plaza came into view, Mia saw that a bunch of Nekos were running around having the time of their lives. From what she overheard, they were welcoming new sisters into their family. Looking to the middle of the group, Mia saw even more humans were in a big clearing in the middle, waiting for their turn to join the others. For some reason some of them even looked a bit scared. Mia couldn't understand why they would be reacting this way. They were about to become super cute and have all those loving sisters to play with.
Not wanting to intrude, Mia moved back down the wall until she reached a shack on the outskirts. It looked a bit ugly and run down. She really didn't want to stay in a place so unattractive but there had to be a bed inside where she could rest and any bed was better than sleeping on the hard, cold ground.
Crossing the threshold, she took a look around. There was indeed a bed, complete with covers that had been knocked half off. It was as ugly inside as the shack was outside but at least the blankets would be warm. Mia moved towards the bed intent on falling in it when her shin made contact with a table. She cringed in pain, swinging around ready to tell off the mean piece of furniture for injuring her when she noticed the backpack sitting on top of it. Someone had left here in a hurry. Forgetting her injured leg for a minute, she picked up the bag, curiously looking it over. It was well used, with many patches. Bringing it close, she give it a sniff.
A familiar scent covered the bag. She knew that scent from somewhere but she just couldn't put her finger on it. Now that she was aware of it, the scent was all over the room. Mia tried to remember where she knew the scent from, but kept coming back to the the pull at her heart. Recognition had her staring at the bag in her hands with astonishment. The bag belonged to her Bis Sis! Big Sis had been here! From the looks of it she couldn't be but a few hours behind. Mia let out an excited yowl and grabbed the bag, hugging it close.
Looking around, she saw the back wall had a hole in it and her Big Sis' scent disappeared through it. Fatigue forgotten, she pulled the bag onto her back, knowing that Big Sis would want it back. She could almost feel the thankful pets she would get for returning it to her. Coming out of her daydream, she put on a determined face, crawled through the hole and headed out to follow Big Sis' trail before it grew cold.
very interesting what could a big sister of a big sister be, and what relationship does he have with that specific neko. i wonder if it was someone he knew or if he was chosen just because.
