Description ESSENCE
The making of a tattoo is special. The spec's are simpel: B&W, 2D, set tattoo in 2 days and it should have the power to say/show some meaningfull; I find it not easy to create something with those spec's. Now the really amazing part of a tattoo is the fact that a person puts this creations on the body for life. => Can you image greater honor than the fact that your creations has been chosen for life. ESSENCE >< LIFE

This is the second tattoo I have made. Again I've tried to put a lot of meaning behind it.
(english is not my native langague, so following explination could get complicated)

* circle = universal symbol, the sun, the moon, ring, there's no begin or end, birth, death and rebirth...the circle was original a snake "tail swallower"; signified eternity and the soul of the world, but I changed it, too complicated design for a tattoo.
* 4 blade shapes = labrys represents a double headed ritual axe. Mother Goddess or medieval charms used to attract women. Here we have a double labrys, a quad headed axe, someone who could control such a weapon was considered mighty.
* 4 elements of nature; fire, water, earth & air; all caputered in the quad headed axe, control over those 4 elements of nature
* circle + 4 blades = a Halo, is a symbolic representation of the aura, or nimbus of light believed in many cultures to surround a Godly or enlightened person
* circle + 4 blades + center shape (spiked) = humility and modesty
* elliptical shapes between the 4 blade = a doorway or portal between worlds, and symbolizes the intersection between the heaven and the material plane or the door through which we all were born
* the waves in the elliptical shapes have more than one sybolisme; snake like shapes = healing and medicine, symbolizes continuous renewal (a snake is often a symbol of resurrection, as it appears to be continually reborn as it sheds its skin.), the cycle of life and death, and harmony of opposites; 2 snakes twisted = signifies the balance of the upper and lower natures, unity; it also combines the 4 elements of nature, the twisted snake tails end into a early staged flower shape = combine the 4 elements of nature to get new life; all this is blended into circle + 4 blades + center shape = might over nature and create new life in human and modest way.
* circle + 4 spikes at the end of the snakes = kinde Zia Pueblo sun symbol, the number four is sacred to the Zia Indians, and this emblem embodies this number as the powers of nature- the sun, the four directions, seasons, and the ages of man
* small spikes in elliptical shapes, protecting the center = essence of live, protect new life, eternity
