It probably possessed him because he was the easiest of the three to possess, due to the large amount of negative emotions he was feeling at the time.* People who are possessed are often targeted because they are in (at least at the time of possession) poor mental and/or emotional health and/or have a weaker psyche than those around them.** It's much easier to manipulate/trick someone who is upset than someone who is happy. As for why it did so, who said it needed a reason or was only after Lewis? It probably wanted to kill all of them simply for the sake of killing but wasn't strong enough to do so without a physical body. Luckily for Vivi and Arthur Mystery realized this and stopped it from completing its possession.
*If you notice in the scene when everyone's in the car, Arthur seems depressed, most likely because his two best friends have started dating and now he feels like a third wheel.
**As opposed to a poltergeist which is caused by a person with an abnormally strong psyche.
