Rage Against the Machine's version of The Ghost of Tom Joad is just excellent and is one of my favorites.

Did you know that the Rage Against the Machine CD single version of The Ghost of Tom Joad and the version you see on their Renegades cover album are slightly different?

I don't know if you know this, but I just want to get this straight with you... Gost of Tom Joad was not written by Zach LaRocha. It's a cover. The original song is by Bruce Springsteen.

I love both versions of this song. Springsteen's original and Rage's cover both rock!

Woah, I love this piece. Relatively simple and doesn't ruin the effect the song has on a person in one way or another. Keep it up! Oh, have you read Grapes Of Wrath?

Never read it, what is it about?

Grapes of Wrath is what inspired the song.

The 'main character' is Tom Joad, and the lyrics are inspired by the end-portion of the book when Tom's friend J. Casy (JC) is killed during a worker's strike. He is telling his Ma about the lessons he learned from JC, and how he's going to live his life.

i knew it was based on a fictional character from a book, but didn't know the name.
I'll have to check it out for sure, is it a good read?
