Description
I know it's colored crappily. Rushed job, but I kind of like the look.An RP character I'm using on Gaia. Eerily he came out being a dragon incarnation of my Naruto character Keitaro (the eye design is a big giveaway). O.o I always loved Keitaro's design and personality, so I wanted to adopt his essence into a dragon Roleplay I created. It turned out being the coolest thing I've ever seen. xD
If you're on Gaia and you want a new RPG that involves the greatest creatures to ever grace the earth, please go ahead and check out this [link] . It's just opened, titled Where Have the Kings Gone. I think it's an alright story plot. I've worked on it for hours, but I'll need your help to set it in motion. Since dragons are rather easy for me to draw I can draw your dragon for the cost of 500 gaia gold. That's not too much, right? I'll even color code it and everything. *Smile.*
And here's the profile. At least it's shorter than usual.
Name: Ismit
Divine Name: Nicomedis (Nick-o-mee-diss)
Age: 56
Gender: Male
Size: Average
Gift: Ismit is able to expel poison from his mouth that clogs a subject's windpipe, introducing suffocation. The poison can be discharged as either smoke or an inky fluid.
Demeanor: Ismit is the dragon mothers have warned their children not to associate with. It’s been said that he deceives his kindred and spreads lies, but in reality, avoidance alone has given birth to this gossip. It’s true he is a witty fellow that is liable in being a thief at times, but he is usually quite selfless and always means to tell the truth. A bad habit of his is being too smart for his own good. He often gets into scuffles due to him making others angry, though he insists it is never intended and his opponent deserved the treatment. He’s also a very nosy character, always prying into another’s affairs. Ismit seems to never be discouraged by his kinsmen shunning him from society. All in all, he’s an eccentric creature with a quick tongue and has no grasp of personal space.
Features:
Additional Info: Ismit had a bad reputation even before he could remember. He is regarded by his kindred as ‘unclean’, and like a leper he has been given a forest area to dwell in outside of the neighboring Realm, Maizer, so he would not spread what sort of disease that lies dormant in his body. Frankly his gift is not contagious, and he could only spread it purposely anyways, but the creatures of Maizer would never like to see it that way.

GASP I admire you even more ._. I tried making lineart today, little less of half of it was done with pentool, and then I said "Oh man, screw this" and did it free hand ._. It was so annoying...

WOW! Hm where to start????
Head to Tail analysis:
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the head, it's very snake like in the curvature of the mouth and yet also has a lizard feel to his nose with lizard like nostrals similar to that of the water monitor. I like his fringe of black spines around his cheek bone and the tiny fringe on his chin. It adds to the lizardy feel of this dragon.
Neck, very serpentine, esp the scales on the underside of the neck, I like how you rendered them, also keeping everything slender and thin adds to a certain serpentine feel of this dragon in general.
Body, Legs, and Tail. Again I like how you've kept everything very thin, almost fragile but with a snakey feel to this dragon.
Wings. I love the torn black shroudy feel to them, they drape and hang like funeral parlour curtains they are whispy and torn and give a certain omnious feel to the character. It really adds to the dimension of a dragon that is either a necromancer or deals with dark things.
Colouring/Markings: Again the dark colours the patterns on the scales give a quick indication that this is a dragon to be avoided. Black has traditionally been the color of acid spewing dragons in D&D, so poision works just as well for this one.
Summery: This dragon is really well drawn, and it fits symbollicaly to the description you have written about it. Even w/o the description the way you drew the dragon, the serpentine feel of it, the wings and colours you used show that it's a dangerous and yet cunning beast. It's not just brute force that it relies on but it's manipulative skill in getting what it wants.
The only issue is that from reading your description what we see, is different than what you have drawn. Ismit first glace appears evil, but upon getting to know the creature, one finds him to be intelligent but not cruel. Kind and selfless instead of arrogant and rude. So hum... my only critique is this, perhaps a different pose something less sterile. Maybe try and draw him laying down or in a pose less menacing but more to his nature. Reading a book? Watching a wizard and advising him on the best potions to use for a certain spell as a cauldron bubbles away? Just some ideas to help break the steriotype... and illustrate him in a way that really shows off his personality.

Holy water, you, my friend, are unbelievable. You wrote all of that for me?! My gawd... this is awesome.
You've induced so many good points... I love you! Thank you very much.
Now for a little spark of conversation, shall we? It's because his appearance looks so evil is why he's shunned from society. It's a little like Beauty and the Beast you know, whereas later you realize the prince has a kind heart underneath that frightening form. I tend and love to make ironic characters, whereas the good guys look villainous and the villains look like they could pass as heros. I just seem to get a kick out of it that, but you know, you are certainly right. His expression seems a little too aggressive, no? What I was trying to go for was a lazy-esque look with a tint of mischief. Instead it looks as if he's going to eat your babies. I guess I still have a lot to learn about dragon expressions. Hehe. I did base a lot of his movements off of Scar from The Lion King, which might have made him more menacing than he was supposed to.
All in all, he's supposed to look evil, decieving and foxy, that is until you get to know him. Yet your hints are fantastic. I'm certainly taking them to heart. And you're right, he looks more serpentine than canine. xD
You know, it may look kind of creepy because it's in the form of a character color sheet, in which I usually draw them at a side angle. *Shrugs.*
What I really need to go for is a 'foxy' appearance. I never even thought of that. That explains him almost flawlessly. Thank you for helping he point that out! Thank you! <3
You may think I'm overdoing the thank yous, but it's rare that I ever get critisism. From now on I want everyone to know: I love critiques! Bring it on! I love you all.
