a character I was workign on owohe's based on those guardian lions/dogs
anyways, he was fun to design ^^
EDIT: on Treoni's suggestion, I named him Quan which apparently comes from QΓΌan which means canine
I also added a sketch of a human to show how big he should be owo
---now for some info.
he's is friendly~ cuz well he's a guardian, so he does good stuf and shit but since he's so fat he messes stuf up easly, so yeah.
the size on the pic is his normal size compared to a human,
altough he is able to change sizes, from puppy size to a MO'FO DRAGON! ah yeah

Just for future reference, they're called "shΓshΔ«" which literally means "stone lion." They're often misguidedly called "fu/foo dogs" by westerners, though.

There are statues of dogs, but they tend to be of the zodiac dog and look nothing like the shishi because, well, shishi are lions. Lol. The dog and guardian lion statues have completely different meanings and wouldn't be called the same name. I can see that Quan is more dog-like, yet still with the elements of traditional shishi and it's not like you don't have the freedom to base your character off one. I actually like the idea.

Foo/fu dogs are what westerners often call guardian lions because they confuse them for dogs. So, they're the same thing, but it's completely wrong. xD I don't think the zodiac dog statues have a specific name, but the Chinese are very traditional, so they might, though it wouldn't be "foo/fu dog" <-- that's a completely made up phrase by westerners. No one in China uses it. It's actually sort of disrespectful to those who value other cultures (not saying you don't value culture; you based your character a little bit off one and I do not take offense to them being called dogs). xD
