I prefer a browser, but maybe that's a personal opinion, ey? (I mean, if you have tons of sites you visit and have an app for every site, your dock - and maybe your head too - would explode)

Yes but it's your own decision , There's many people who uses deviantART a lot and doesn't want their heavy browser on. Or just too lazy to get on deviantArt everytime they exit it.
Also, We're now working on adding features which doesn't exist on a regular browser.

You can basically go to ideviantArt without loading an heavy browser and get all it features now and quick.

I've just downloaded it, and went to upload something to test it out, but the Upload button doesn't initiate the browser tool. Also, when you hover over the text part of the button, it turns back into the pointer, meaning you can't click on the button if you press on the part with the text on the button. That seems like an issue too :/

Thanks for the Bug Report, I have added it to the Bugs List and it'll be fixed next update.
As for now you can just drag and drop the Image you want to upload to the Which File ? Field, It seems to work that way. Please keep me updated.

Yes , This is currently only for Mac. Maybe if there'll be request for Windows then we'll consider making it also for Windows.
