i loved both tutorials. i got linked from LJ. this is fantastic. i remember when i was 12 or so i painted a pair of white canvas Keds with the "parental Advisory explicit content" warning label from CDs. i was so cool. not really. but seriously, im inspired to paint my shoes again, like the ballet flats from target i ruined the other night at a bon-fire. watch out world, my feet will be stomping in 100% DIY couture!

That's fantastic! You might not want to do as many layers of gesso (it was gesso, not gouache that I used) because it ends up cracking a little, and you might want to seal it with something.

Any tips for maybe sealing the shoe after you're all done painting... to protect it and make it easier to clean etc?

It's really easy, but I made a mistake with the tutorial- it's gesso not gouache.
