Had a wild hair to play with colored pencils the other day, since I severely lack in proper skill and detailing ability with them, and I have always wanted to do a more elaborate drawing of my character Caleb (one of Blitz's pups...don't tell the others but I think he's my fav...OOP.) I really tried to get the various colors and sable colors of his coat down since they look a lot cooler in my head, and I actually like how it came out for once. I still need some more practice, but it's a start (and art) if nothing :3Caleb and art (c) me

I only have a few colors, and blending multiple pencils to get that color is still so tricky hahah I used at least 13 different colors in the gray/brown color alone. =o

It looks stupid awesome as ever. you jerk with your colored pencil awesomness. I love how his fur goes from brown to a grayishtone and back. There is a ton of depth in this! SO FLUFFY

I fo realin' was looking at the ref sheet with this fucker the other day! You really need to draw these characters more.
Anyways, I think the markings and all look fine. Always sucks to never put on paper what you have in your head, but this is probably the closest thing to it! GROOD to see your traditional art too, ho! I love how you blended in the fur, and the soft edge you pulled off on those whiskers. Thought it was actually a digital piece in my inbox!
Your canine anatomy is always wicked shit too, it's not all gay and boring like everything else on here/FA/tumblr/whatever. That big ass chunk out his ear looks cool as hell by the way, contrasts well with all that fluff in his ears. And those lips/muzzle! TOTALLY a skinnier version of Ruger's serious face haha.

hahaha Thanks homenigra!I love traditional, it's just so much more work than digital pieces I tend to do because I am lazy.
Also glad my anatomy is moving away from the gay and boring shit it used to be/is most of the time hahaha hahahah skinnier version of Ruger's serious face! <3 Especially when he's looking down for lasers hahaha

I really love how you did the fur and the details in the nose. I can't keep my eyes from his snout because it looks so real I can almost feel it!
Caleb has such lovely colours. No wonder he is your favourite, and he probably has cool story like all yur character do. OuO

I also wish I could say he had an awesome story, but he doesn't really x'3 I haven't really had time to work on theirs..I just know what he'd do as an adult...but suffice to say it really won't matter with these guys =o
And yea it was just a quick note, and that's okay! The note was a more for your info thing to go through at your leisure, so it's all good! I know how crazy busy life can be, especially when it comes to school and assignments.

I love color pencils. The depth of color and nuance of shade is hard to match with other mediums. Not that others mediums don't produce stunning results, but something about color pencils always gets me. Especially when done as well as this one. Absolutely gorgeous.

I agree...I love the vivacity you get with traditional methods such as paint or pencils, but the natural gloss of color pencils adds a lot of depth and life to any drawing if you work at it. They are both great and horrid x3 Thank you very much Elizabeth! <3

Colored pencils are the invention of the devil, I say! Seriously though, love the way you've used so many different color tones on the fur, looks good.
