(i'll upload some real art soon)rant rant rant.
no, i dont just like my little pony because its considered "cool" or "popular" or because some "popular deviants" are into it. :l
i dont like it just so i can be part of the bandwagon or whatever.
i like it because its actually fun and cute and entertaining.
for those who hate MLP, thats cool, i couldnt care less.
for those who hate it because its "soo popular" and you want to be soo "different" and "individual" by hating it, even when you havent seen the first few episodes, then go ahead, act like you're so "cool" and spend your time bashing people for liking it because you're just that awesome. really, i dont care.

Yeah. I'm a guy, almost as soon as i somewhat heard Fim, or saw some things relaated to it, i thought i'd like it, yet avoided watching it to perserve my manhood.
Now don't mistake me for one of those guys who was and are serious about their mawnly-ness, I was not like that. I mean, i never liked to watch sports, i like vicolid far better then most modern music, and i even got into a series about cats in the wild...And not the big cats either. NOt to mention i watched of japaneses "Kwaii" videos (whatever it goes, carameldansen anyome?). I knew i was not the image a guy should have had by any strech and so i avoided watching it cause i thought i had to perserve the few drops of manhood image i had.
A good friend of mine got into the show however...so i used that as an excuse to just give in...and over time, I'm a brony! Simple as that. I don't follow Mlp cause it's popular, i follow it and the fan base cause it's FUN and SUPPORTIVE.

Yep, plus with al the new new things comming out of the blue. i lost intrest, and borders closing(my main way to get books) i kinda wasn't bothered anymore

I hate the whole "You like it 'cause it's a fad" terminology in general, but MLP:FIM is where I hear it the most, because, yes, you guessed it, I'm a fan.
The way I got into it is proof enough that I am a true fan; not only did I not realize it was popular, I also didn't realize it was a real show, by the time I realized it was, I was already a fan.

I'm tired of getting the "you're just stuck in a fad and are doing it just for page views" accusals. I started to watch it when I realized I got the Hub channel. And then when I looked online and found it was popular to this extent, I was glad. -__-

Just yes. My only influence was someone sending me a link on a forum. And I didn't even watch beyond the first or second episode before. Then it creeped back into my head, then I watched more, up all the way until the last episode of the season. My trip of being a brony stopped there. XD

I knew about My Little Pony long before Deviant Art even existed. Obviously, telling people you were around for the 80s shows is not permitted and instantly labels you as a "hipster".
As for the show itself... It's fun to watch, but I don't care for the main characters all that much as opposed to all the side characters. It's like how I am with the Sonic universe. =/

i so do know what you mean. even though im a G4 fan, i have alot of respect for the G1 and its actually pretty good. people need to stop flaming it just because they like G4 better; without G1 there would be no G4.

I started watching it on vacation, away from internet/computer, came home to find it's a huge craze and I'm glad to be a part of that, but long after this fan-craze is said and done, I'll be a die-hard ponylover atheart <3

as many people have said, its just plain fun to watch. but another reason, possibly my greatest for watching the show, is that even being a child show, it entertains everybody. you can tell that most children shows are children shows, because they are shitty, and children arent intelligent enough to notice this. but this show, even aimed for children, is of considerable quality that most cartoons, be they for children, teens or adults, cannot meet up to.
basically, the show is just fucking genious.

I had a whole bunch of MLPs when I was little. I still remember I had one named like, Citrusburst or something. Sh smelled like citrus. And she was one of my favorite toys. I remember playing the Neopets the Darkest Fairy game with that thing sitting right next to me.
But when the FiM series came out and everyone was drawing pictures, I was all "HRNG I HATE THIS." ...until I actually watched an episode. I was freaking hooked, man. 
........But I still have a raging hatred toward Spike...........
