Description
This was an old test I did of early tiles for my game project. I was testing to see what colors I would need to make things so that everything is visible - this was one of many tests. The project ended up taking a different look from this because I cannot make tiles like these consistently, nor will I likely be working at such a high resolution.I'm not experienced with making tiles at all; my apologies for their sloppiness.
Tile Sixe: 64x64
Color Count:
(Ground tiles): 8 colors
(Cloud Backdrop) : 5 colors
(Forest Backdrop): 3 colors

Wow, it looks great.
You should try to use around about the same number of colors for everything to make everything look the same resolution.
For example:
Color Count:
(Ground tiles): 4 colors
(Cloud Backdrop) : 4 colors
(Forest Backdrop): 3 colors

That's a good idea! I never thought to approach it that way!

This is far better than anything I could accomplish pixel-wise` The detail looks very nice-but it seems to oddly match up with the character. The little bunny seems like he would be right at home in a bizarre, wacky, weird world where there is flying cat helicopters and other strange oddities. This background-although highly beautiful seems like is would fit a more serious gun-toting type of guy`
But, overall still lovely.`

Yeah, precisely the issues that made me end up redoing the tiles entirely - the tone is just inconsistent with the old graphics! Thank you kindly!

my gripe is that the ground texture has a different style to the rest of the image, sorta reminds me of megaman x4

Yeah, that was my main issue, and it lead to me using a flatter style afterwards, but I still have trouble with tiles...
