Description He always taught his daughter
to hold her nation close

That God, family and country
should be what she loves most

Then his beloved nation
fell under an attack

He held his crying child
America fought back

He regrets he did not go before
to fight his enemy

But he believed he could not leave
his new-found family

But now his daughter’s nearly grown
This could be his last chance

to leave his home; to go to war
in his country’s defense

It’s not only his country
for whom he takes up arms

But it’s fear for his family
that they may come to harm

If by some enemy order
we faced attack once more

We may not be so lucky
as to win the final score

He always taught his daughter
to hold her nation dear

But his lessons cannot free her
from her sorrow or her fear

He anxieties are many
she only tells him one

The only reason for her tears:
she’ll miss him when he’s gone

She hides the rest inside her heart
right next to her great pride

for God, family and country
for which her dad may die

what a strong poem. it's moving and steady. It reminds me of the "midnight ride of paul revere"
the way it sounds. It's good. I have a question on the last line did you mean to put
"her dad may die"?
