Description
Hey gang. Here's something I've been working on on and off then and when. This picture's one of the few serious ones you've seen in my gallery. It's about Anyssa playing her favourite instrument, having composed a song in memory of her lost family. For those who don't know, Anyssa lost her family while she was still underage, being the only survivor in a car accident that took her both parents. After that she had to go through an era of depression and mistreatment as she was taken from a foster family to another, the families either being not to her tastes or them treating her like crap. Eventually she ran away and hid until she came across the BB residence.
In any case, she used to play a cello when her parents were still alive, but thanks to obvious reasons she had a long pause. Only after getting over the biggest grief did she get back to her old hobby, and in the picture you see she's playing a song she made for her dead parents called "Overture for yearning". You could say it's her way to grieve and honour her parents' memory.
Art wise I tried to make this picture seem as emotional as possible, and I think I succeeded in it quite well. Not as well as I would've wanted, but it's good nevertheless.

Heh, thanks.
Unfortunately, no. I'm not musical enough to produce music on my own, not to mention pick a fitting song from existing ones.

Would you mind if I attempted to compose it for you? If so, do you want any other instruments besides the cello?

Compose the song? o_o
I've not even thought about imagining it as an actual song, but I guess I'd be curious to hear what it might sound like.
Sure, you can have a go at it. Keep in mind, that I can be picky, though.
And since it's played by her, I imagine it would have cello only. No other instruments.
I'd picture the song to be slow-tempo and haunting. You know, long and low notes.

Alright then. It will probably take me a long while, but I'll get back to you as soon as it's done.

this is a very deep and moving work.

It's a dumb word made up by this one disney tv show from the 90's. WONKY discribes something as strange.

No, I know what wonky means, but why do you say her arm is so?

It definitively speaks volumes without having to etch a word. Overall I think the piece came together quite nicely and I certainly felt a wave of emotions just looking at it before even getting to the story beneath it

people don't have cat ears
you're contributing to an unrealistic standard of beauty

Yes, REAL people don't have cat ears. This one, on the other hand, is a drawn person born from my imagination, so she has cat ears.
And I don't see cat ears as some sorta beauty issue. I just think animal features like that give the character more...well, character.

I think it's really pretty -especially the pose with the instrument! The backstory's good too (though sad...Anyssa needs a hug!).

O.O Dude, I really like this...it might be partially because I am a giant fan of the cello, but this is also just a wonderful piece. Thank you for sharing ^_^

Hmm... You definitely pulled off emotion, that's for sure. I'm not sure I'm feeling exactly what you were trying to convey from the story, but this is definitely something special. Amazing work for the artwork and colors as usual, but also because you've stirred something more than your usual work. You've really captured that essence of a musician.

Dude, easily some of the best work you have done thus far. Also, is that Aisha Clan-Clan on her desk dressed up in her Hellcat costume from the "World's Strongest Woman" episode of "Outlaw Star"?

A very beautiful piece BlooberBoy. I must say the window effect is very well done. and I like how the Cello's stand is pushing a little ridge into her carpet.
And I must agree with you, it is emotional, Although I think I feel a different emotion then the one intended. In the end, however, I still love this picture, and is saved in my folders under "masterworks".

Well I think that is not sufficient emotional to cry but is emotional to feel the pain of Anyssa when she lost her parents , by the way I dind't knew that, thanks for the info. This pic remember me that I wanna play the guitar but always I find and excuse to learn that later, maybe I must change. Thanks to share a bit of Anyssa emotions with us

Well, now that's just sweet, that is.
I always like when you show glimpses of your characters' lives outside the squishy bit- lite the set-up stuff for the halloween boobie monster story.

And well, I like to add a bit more depth to my characters sometimes. Such images as this are the result of moods when I wanna draw something related to my characters without them being bloated huge or such.

Yeah, I totally understand. Just those little vignettes rounding them out as characters in-between rounding them out as women.

It's a meadow with a patch of forest in the distance. I intentionally lightened it up to be unclear to keep more focus on the room interior.

great pic!
i'm not trying to rag on it or disrespect it in any way,
or think i'm better or anything
but
the hand might be to high up on the bow.
if that was meant to be that way, that's cool.
like i said, i'm not trying to be a dick or anything.

BlooberBoy In reply to LordAltros [2010-07-01 14:41:00 +0000 UTC]
No problem. No offense taken. ^-^
What I was aiming for was to portray it so that she's holding the bow with the tips of her fingers in a way. I don't remember whether I used a reference for that hold or not, but it's not a big deal anyway.
Thanks for letting me know, though.

Aww. This is a very well-executed piece, and I always love to learn characters' backstories.
This may seem trivial in light of the subject matter of the drawing, but I couldn't help but notice the design on Anyssa's desk mat, and I highly approve.
