Description
PLEASE DOWNLOAD FOR FULL VIEW!This is my guide to an easier way to make jewelry and other crafts with Epoxy Resin. I think it's rather simple and easy to follow. I only proof read this once so if there's any errors please let me know. :] Any questions let me know and I'll try and help. Remember this is my SECOND time working with resin ever. This is just my way.
I couldn't find any tutorials of resin being used this way. So I had to just try and learn myself and I'm posting this to help anyone who was looking as hard as me.
I hate when artist hide their secret to crafting thinking it will cut their sales in half or what not. I believe you should share some techniques and help others learn. If you like the artist enough you'll still buy from them anyways. And I hope by posting this I don't lose the support of my buyers.
If you follow this tutorial and get everything pictured I can almost assure you you won't spend more than 55 bucks.
And that's saying you don't have stickers, anything to sand with, no cups, etc etc. When I started with resin all I needed was the resin and the molds. Cost me 30 bucks right there.

I really love this tutorial and I keep going back to it cause it makes me really want to try using resin!! I've always been too afraid to cause it seems like some kinda.. volatile substance.. xD but it's nice to know that the kind you used doesn't have any smell. I have a question though, do you know if you can add pigments to change the colour of the resin? Like paints, etc?

Does acrylic paint work? Or would you have to use oil-based paints/watercolour pigments? :0

Thanks for sharing your process! But I was wondering, are the molds you use resin specific or can you use any plastic mold?

BloodCross In reply to BountyHunterBetty [2010-08-18 22:07:03 +0000 UTC]
Those are made for resin, you can use soap molds and anything plastic but I recommend getting mold release or else the resin will break the mold or stick to the mold. Some people have used soap and oil as a release but it doesn't always work.

I have a Q though, in the picture you have the "super glaze pour on finish" and 2 bottles of "super glaze part 1 & 2" are they both resin? did you use them all or what xD ? i'm sorry for the troublesome Qs ><

BloodCross In reply to TokiCrafts [2010-06-25 18:52:55 +0000 UTC]
To make resin it's basically a chemical mixture of those two liquids so once you mix them they begin to bond to each other. You can't use one without the other because then it'll just stay a liquid mess. You don't have to use the whole two bottles either. I used less than half a cup for these pendants and saved the rest of the bottles for another time.

Oh thank you~
I get that you have to mix the 2 types together, but i saw in the picture that you had the 2 bottles and the a box xd i thought there some kind of other bottle inside which makes 3 >< but i looked again and now i understand that the 2 bottles came IN that box xD
Sorry for the trouble and thank you for the great tutorial <3

Great tutorial
I have being trying to use resin lately but i keep having issues with the stickers not staying where i put them and then I am never sure how much glitter to put in.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BloodCross In reply to MissGriss [2010-01-27 21:18:13 +0000 UTC]
You can try pouring a tiny bit of resin and then place the stickers then wait a day and pour more resin and then add the glitter. You kind of just have to eye the glitter and see how much is enough. As for the stickers sometimes I sit there for like 45mins poking them around to make sure they stay put xD

Thanks for the tips. How many layers of resin do you do? I have been trying with one small layer, then the stickers, then another layer with glitter and then a backing layer. It is just not working right for me though. I guess I will just keep practising. Yours just turn out looking so great and I really want to get to that level

BloodCross In reply to MissGriss [2010-01-28 21:04:37 +0000 UTC]
I actually only do one. I'm extremely lazy and pressed for time. This is what I do though, I put the stickers in then sprinkles [they're heavy and keep the stickers down.] then I added glitter to fill in the space.
