I personally used to throw atlas and dictionaries to annoying people, less dangerous, but really painful when you target the correct spot (back of the head, back, spine, arms,...).

lol i don't actually hurt any one, i just scare them shitless with my eerie psychopathic smile and my creepy sociopathic laugh while wielding these objects, it's been pretty effective since no one wants to be killed by a psychopathic high schooler who will in fact kill you if you touch her little sister. ^_^ (i'm not actually a psychopath, just seem like one)
