Description

This piece shows two stylized koi fish swimming in a constant circle signifying the constant need for balance. Ying, the white fish gives off a glow as he represents all things considered light and Yang, representing all things considered dark basks in his constant light but not without casting her own shadow. The two cannot function without the other despite their differences.

This piece draws on some principles of Japanese aesthetics such as simplicity (Kansou) and tranquility/silence (Seijaku). It also draws on the principle of Shibui which in summary is the principle of objects appearing simple but having subtle details so that one can enjoy the piece with every viewing.

This one was an assignment to show some of the Elements and Principles of design. I hope you like <3
