I used to be in the Air Training Corps (ATC) and cadets in the ATC have the opportunity to do a Gliding Scholarship (GS). While on my GS I learned that on short winter days you often glide until sunset, because teaching gliding is only permitted while the sun is out. This was the last flight before sundown.
