i don't know what this is, it is not a typical griffin. I don't think. If I said it was, I'm sure some spaz would yell at me for saying so, because apparently there are RULES to how a fictional creature should look. Anyone who tries to tell me there ARE rules, deserves a smack in the face. It's like me, saying blue isn't a colour like, let's say yellow , just because it looks different. I love analogies.anywhassit, INK and OIL PASTEL are what I used for this. still messing with diff. mediums I suppose you could say. Nothing spectacular compared to other stuff I've done.

heheh, when I was drawing this, I thought to myself " how in the potato would this thing fly on two little wings???" so I stuck another set in there.

nope! I just made it up as I went along. I only like to use refs. if I'm really stuck on how something should look...I usually state if I use a ref....though I have none on this gallery that I have used one for. It's more of a problem/challenge that way ^^

Haha, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about... the people who post on Elfwood
do that shit all the time. Usually it's because their introduction to fantasy is like
Harry fucking Potter or some shit, so for example they would think this griffin you've drawn
is supposed to be the one from Harry Potter. They don't even have knowledge of anything from traditional mythology to AD&D to any of the other zillion references Harry Potter stole from. And don't get me started how those Lord of the Rings movies have ruined fantasy because of these people... every vaguely humanoid creature you draw they say "Looks like Gollum," "Reminds me of Gollum." Fuck Gollum, fuck him right up his goat-ass!!!
Ahem. Anyhoo. Nice griffin... reminds me of the one from Harry Potter. Bahaha, just kidding. This is awesome work... great pose and anatomy, and the white on yellow is really striking. You're the queen!

THANK YOU! yes, Elfwood was actually really what inspired the ranty bit. I don't update my elfwood gallery anymore, but I know when I frequented other people's galleries and such, I would see a lot of this stupid behaviour going on. I AM SO GLAD YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN !!! Glad you like it too ^^

yes, in ink. My pen actually broke, so i jabbed the nib of the pen into a burned out marker ahaha, works fine. I don't know why I inject these random bits into replies to comments.....o.O
I really like how the wings and claws turned out, though I wanted to change the background to something less intense...
