Description ^_^ this is the one I was rambling on about in my recent journal entry. It is only in my sketchbook, and I hope to redo it on good watercolour paper for my mum + dad for christmas ( there is also a third part that goes in between these two that I haven't painted yet, there are two more boys in that one, teasing squirrels XD) I decided I would make each little kid represent one of my siblings ( and myself) it seemed to suit us.
-acrylic ( I am such a bad speller ..) + india ink

It's quite nice how you cut the composition in two, it creates two separate frames while still working as a whole... Very pleasing line quality and colour scheme, too. Might I suggest you make the text more contrasting, as it's almost completely invisible? If it's in that gold hues you use in the picture, I don't think it needs to be transparent, or maybe just 80%.

My God... the cutness is so great, that you can almost touch it. Reminds me of those old fairytale books, that I used to read while wrapped up in a blanket and armed with my trusty huggable Teddy Alien. Now that I think about it, I 'm beginning to have the urge to really wrap myslef up in a blanket and hug my Alien....

Beautifully composed, beautifully done. How long did it take you to make those tree swirls ? They're amazing.....

blotchy-the-squid In reply to Tokage-sama [2004-11-28 19:28:52 +0000 UTC]

ohohoh thank you! Suprizingly, the swirls didn't take long at all because I could just scribble them in really quick. What took me the longest was sketching out the boy's face! Honestly! I couldn't get it to look the way I wanted it to!

the first elf/fairy dude reminds me of the caricatures of tony blaire >.<

The picture has a very old feel to it. I think it works very well.

^_^ why thank you. Ilike to use acrylic rather than watercolour because your colours can be more intense and still look like watercolour! But yes! learn to use watercolour! it's really beautiful...

This reminds me of a fairytale illustration that one would see in a book. The colors are so innocent, and the detail catches much interest. Fantastic job.
