Description
I'm practicing drawing Dionians full-body, which is hard because I've never drawn characters with digitigrade legs before. I'm also working on the rough drafts of a Dionian language and an alphabet, which is a colossal task on its own. I might post some stuff on the Dionian language at some point, in case you're interested with seeing how it works.Zamak's basically saying "I want to meet Mickey Mouse! The humans have a lot of respect for him!" Granted, I'm not sure how humans would react to seeing reptilian aliens at Disneyland.

Holy crap, you decoded it?! The spaces between words aren't always clear, but here's the actual sentence. I've changed the verb system since making this, so it's a little off:
Na miki maus sharhoq! Umanu rhe babu shiq!
Na - I, me
Miki maus - Mickey Mouse
sharhoq - to be honored to meet (it should actually be sharhoba)
umanu - human(s) (there is no difference between singular and plural in Dionian)
rhe - he/she (respectful term)
babu - love
shiq - a lot
Literal translation: "I Mickey Mouse be honored to meet! Humans him love much!"
Actual translation: "I'd be honored to meet Mickey Mouse! Humans love him so much!"
Also, the black suits they wear are called ekhada, although now they're mostly artificial, originally they were made from the string spun by an insect on Isulu called unigu. They don't translate to Earth, though, because black absorbs heat and the Dionian ships are very cold.

I was close enough.
Cool verbs and stuff. Not a grammar geek myself.
Don't you love interplanetary insects?

Thanks! Yeah, I haven't developed the flora and fauna of Isulu that much. Not that it's terribly important, because when the Dionians left Isulu, they only took plants and animals that provided food or made other materials, like the unigu. Granted, because there are a couple billion Dionians, there weren't enough uniguΒ and eventually they developed artificial ekhada. I'm actually really big on languages, although unfortunately I really only know Spanish other than English!

Nice. I actually like numbers more, sort of.
Have i told you about zen /dozenal before? I sort of remember promising to show someone that.

Yeah, it was me! I know the Dionians have octal numbers (because they have four claws on each hand), but I haven't come up with number words yet. For example, they celebrate increments of 8 and 64 years, instead of decades and centuries. But I never really learned what zen was about.

I'd actually not mind reptilian aliens at disneyland. Or anywhere else.
The language looks interesting, i really wonder how it works.

Thank you so much! I've been practicing drawing these guys for a while. I'm trying to make the language so that it's very different from English, but not impossible from a human perspective.

Sounds clever, it would end up being different coming from another civilisation.
Now that makes me wonder, what would a language humans can't use be like?

I dunno. Maybe aliens could communicate with color, frequency, etc.?

Or use a logic system that doesn't conform to what we're used to.

Yeah! I've always thought about that. I could also get more complicated and say that, as the human brain is a complex arrangement of cells and molecules, if a species' brain is even slightly different from a human's (even assuming that they have something resembling a brain), then naturally their worldview will be vastly different from ours. Although Dionians are pretty similar to humans, I am trying to throw in some big differences (for example, their numbers are based on powers of eight rather than ten).

Octal numbers. I happen to like dozenal numbers.

Interesting! Didn't know the term for that (probably should). But developing an alien society has been very fun. Great art, by the way! You have a lot of interesting characters.
