Description
We search for Paradise, that perfect place were we can be together, until from the ashes a new world is born. I heard that paradise opens when the world becomes desolate, a wasteland crumbling away, no longer sustaining a single breath. No one told me that to get to paradise, you had to die. No one told me that I had been in paradise all along.

This piece is extremely personal to me. For the first time I feel like I achieved the vision inside my head. We live in a paradise, yet we look for it in all the wrong places. It seems only the animals know where to seek...

Your idea of paradise reminds me slightly of the theme of innocence lost. Like a longing for a time that has past that you didn't fully cherished because you took for granted that it was one of life's constants, like day and night. Should the mission on hand be to reinstate what has been lost, or do we move on with bitter lessons we have learnt? That's what goes through my mind when I look at it, though there is hope, as fundamentally, animals who are more intuitive creatures rather than rational beings are able to grasp this'truth'

Even though you hand painted parts of the image, it should still be placed in the photomanipulation category. It's pretty clear that the majority of the piece is made from stock images, not just using them as a reference.
The mixed media category would be more fitting for something that used a combination of methods to create, whereas this piece is just stock and a digital imaging program. Hand painting and color editing is part of the photomanipulation process, it doesn't justify placing it in the mixed media category. Otherwise there wouldn't even be anything in the photomanipulation category, it would all be mixed media.

It's important because if you don't place it under photomanipulation, it sort of implies that you painted it yourself. Which cheats the stock providers since many people don't take the time to read the artist's comments, they just drag it to their favorites. By placing it in photomanipulation, people are more likely to check out what stocks you used. I have a stock provider account myself, so that's why I brought it up. Thank you for changing it.

I am completely lacking in knowledge when it comes to photos and photomanip and such but I question this too. When it says "everything else done by yours truly"...what else was left? I think it is a truly stunning piece of work but whose work is it?
Please understand-I am not trying to be rude, I am trying to understand. If someone could explain the basics to me it would be very much appreciated.

This art is a photo-manipulation. The artist uses photos offered as stock and combines several of different origins to convey their own message or create their own vision.
The work of creating the objects depicted isn't the work that was done by the objects - it was the effort of creating the vision and combining the images in a way that looks convincing and cohesive.
