Description This started as a study of oliver coipel and laura martin from AvsX. Just so I could get a better understanding of color and shadows. I'm studying my comics rat now. This is a watercolor of wolverine probably one of my best works right now. 9x7, watercolor and ink.

Here is some more fanart I think you may enjoy :

Whoooooaaaa love this! A bit too realistic to be chibi but I still love it! Great work with the shadows, foreshortening and the effect lines

yea I thought enlarging Wolvie's head would make it chibi like, but I made his body to big so ahh, maybe next time I'm glad you like it though

, thank you so much!!! Well i'm no masta by any means but I can tell you start studying your favorite cartoon, comics, and find photo references. And always think of the light source/ where the light is hitting your objects. Also mapping out the darkest part of your figures and objects first helps, like breaking it up into a puzzle. I hope that helps some

Thanks for the advice. To make lights, use black or white paint with transparent gel, to leave a layer of light or shadow ... but I feel that it is not as I would like. Instead I see your blue you used for example in the shadows of the black.

Oh yea with the watercolors just to get a darker version of the color I'll mix the original color with black and add water until I get the desired darkness i'm looking for. The hard part is not adding too much water because then it the color will be TOO transpartent, or adding too much color and that just makes the paint look kind of cakey/crappy. It's a bunch of trial and error I guess....ahh the path in traditional art lol.

I'll say unless your using acrylic paints don't even mess with white paint it's worthless really unless you're painting on colored paper. Just use the "white" of your paper to maintain the extreme lights. I guess i'm saying use the white of the paper as your lightest color.

Maybe make bigger head and round? Smaller body? Try next time ^^

Ah, I saw a quick iron man at a shop. It's almost like a ball. Maybe can make something like that? lol
