Final Frontier

Galaxies and light years and stars appear so small;
I lie in the grass upon my back and look up and see that all
The heavens and creation are the gifts we have been given
And where no man has gone before is not our only mission.

No matter what we learn is out there making us feel so small
We must remember we are not the only race against the wall.
Surely there is more than us, and more than that matters true
It seems to me it is likely right since so many think it too.

Universal nightmares and universal dreams so often speak
To us in our unguarded hours when we are open to the peek
Of what reality is out there and what is still achievable
If we could only open our minds past what we think we’re able.

Starships and shuttles and cities a bustle under bubbles
May be part of our less than certain future, good or trouble,
It’s hard to say now whether we are going the intended way
Of our destiny and we’ll be alright or we’re seriously astray.

Our future is uncertain indeed, and some of us may wonder
If God is in the plan at all or if it is our non-intent to blunder
Into our future blindly without control or bow to surcease.
Could it be that our true final frontier is peace?
