Sub theme: Spring fun
Entrant: Nami, the Rattata (and her trainer Matt)
Here's my first entry for the PokΓ©mon Super Contests, held on dA. It's the cute category, so I entered Nami. Seemed like the most obvious choice. Heh.
Anyway, the sub theme is 'Spring fun'. I think most people will enter happy, cheerful pictures of their PokΓ©mon frolicking in fields of pretty flowers in various neon-colors, so I decided to try something else. You know spring isn't just about the sun shining, the flowers blooming and birds chirping, right? Spring is also all about rain. At least it is in most parts of the world. So here's Nami, sporting her rain gear, because she honestly doesn't care what the weather is like. She'll have fun either way. ^__^
By the way, I doubt that my entries for the second and third rounds will be quite as elaborate as this one (the background wasn't exactly easy to make). Just so you know.

well, the creator won't say what's going on. It might be his job, cause of the economy, or he's just become REALLY lazy. yet he still goes to the comicons.

Well, from what I can tell, VGCats is a gag-type comic. Meaning that is depends on a joke for every page to make it work. It doesn't actually have a story-line, so that may explain why it's harder to keep going. You know, if you've run out of ideas for jokes.
Just remember that for most artists a comic is supposed to be fun. They aren't being paid for it. Readers don't pay for it. Put short: it's hard work and you get squat in return, unless you count a reader's love and appreciation (you can't pay your bills with that, though). Therefore he isn't obligated to keep going or even to justify a hiatus. Not at all.
Of course, that's just one side of it. Stopping your comic and not saying anything about it will in the end only come back to hurt the artist, because his page views will take a nose dive and people might start disliking his attitude. But like I said before, he's totally within his rights to do whatever he does.

lol I've seen some comics with the donation stuff. lol YOu have to donate a certain amount to get a new page on a side comic, or to help him pay for services. lol

For most artists a webcomic is purely a labor of love, though.

what a cute rattata or whatΒ΄d ya call Β΄em ? in german they are called Ratfratz. I like the backgrounds you do IΒ΄m kinda bad at it ,lost without brushes lol but at least I made some on my own :3 well bgs arenΒ΄t mine I guess but IΒ΄m trying often.The last pic of me with a real pcbackground was into the oblivion" i guess. just your rain looks really strange but I like it though lol really nice

Bedankt! Schattig was inderdaad de bedoeling, ja.
Ik weet nog niet of ik haar laat evolueren. Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat ik niet zo gek ben op hoe Raticate eruit ziet. Rattata is echt een leuk beestje, maar Raticate, daar knap ik wel op af.
Dus of ze evolueert hangt helemaal af van of ik een manier weet te verzinnen om haar er toch nog leuk uit te laten zien. Als dat niet lukt, blijft ze gewoon een Rattata.
