I have a question for you. How do you get such a dark background behind the model?

This exact picture was taken in a night club at daytime. It had no windows, so no light came in to illuminate anything behind the model. the only light source was a spotlight from DJ booth. If you are taking a picture at home or in the studio, make sure all the windows are covered very well and the light that shines on whatever you are taking a picture of is bright enough. It also helps to have as much dark empty space behind the model, because even if something is very slightly illuminated, it will be out of focus and easier to eliminate just by adjusting brightness and contrast a little. Also, shine upon the model a bit from the back (or a little more towards camera), that sort of "blinds" the camera from seeing all behind the lit area. Hope this helps.
