Description UPDATE: THIS LIST IS INTENDED FOR THE NUMBERED INSTALLMENTS OF THE CLASSIC MEGAMAN SERIES ONLY, THERE ARE NO SIDE GAME BOSSES ON THIS LIST!

Well, here's the version with sprites that includes all 80 Robot Masters. Though I suppose a I owe a little bit of an explanation.

Let me start by saying you have no idea how much work went into both this pic and the the other mugshot version. No friggin' idea. Nuff said.

As you first may notice, the colors on these characters seems...off. The truth is there not. In fact, each RM has their real respective colors and most if not all of their details from the original concept art (Thank you Mega Man Knowledge Base! [link] ). Yes this includes all of them, no exceptions. And yes, for the details, a number of them had to be edited, some only a little, others were heavily edited.

Anyway, Most of the sprites come from there respective games, (MegaMan 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10) with a few exceptions, which I will list in order of appearance. 1.) Time Man and Oil Man's sprites come from the yet to be fully released Rockman 8 FC as secret characters with usable weapons. 2.) Sprites from Mega Man 7 and 8 also come from the Rockman 7 & 8 FC games (a special thanks goes out to them for making these sprites and cool 8-bit ports)! 3.) The two exceptions to this are Slash Man and Frost Man, both 8-bits sprites are from Mega Man 10 as a cameo as a Wily Castle boss, the "Weapons Archive" along with a number of other faces on this list.

In regards to a number of questions I get on a certain subject, let me address a very common place concern. If you do not see a certain RM on this list (Enker, Mercury, Doc Robot, or even Mega Man himself, etc.), don't panic. This list and the mugshot version are both dedicated to the normal RMs from MM 1 - 10 (with the exception of the MM 1 remake Powered Up). Any RMs outside this range will be placed on a special list with both sprites and mugshots. THIS INCLUDES MEGAMAN & BASS!!! So I don't want to hear any questions regarding a missing Robot Master. If you do ask, I'll assume you didn't read the description and will kindly address you to read it again.

Anyway, if you have any questions regarding this piece or the mugshot version or if you wish to point out errors I may have missed (it's easy to miss mistakes here), please leave a comment. I will see what I can do. Enjoy the list.

Uhm, I have a question related to the Robot Masters.

In Powered Up, if you lay as a Robot Master and go to that Robot Master's stage (example: Playing as Cut Man and going to Cut Man's stage), you'll fight a character called Mega Man?, a Mega Man lookalike created by Dr Wily.

Are they a Robot Master?

I always thought that they were the Copy Robot to be honest (or at least a close variant).Β  If he is an RM, he's not a LWN/DWN in the traditional sense (like the Mega Man Killers).

But isn't Copy Robot also in the game?
Plus, Mega Man? uses the Mega Buster, and not any of the boss weapons.

It's been a long time since I worked on this.Β  But I recall using the Mega Man Complete Works artbook to gauge color accuracy.Β  Had to modify the sprites a lot to make them more detailed which makes the additional colors stand out properly.

Mmm...Never actually thought about it before.Β  In terms of character design, the RMs from 6 are my favorite, as a lot of them are very unique to the series (CentaurMan especially).Β  Though if your talking about the stages, it would be 3 in that case.

The sprite bases are from the team who made Rockman 8 FC (an 8-bit demake of Mega Man 8).

The coloring and detail edits I did myself, using concept pictures from the Mega Man Official Complete Works art book.Β  I tried to get as much detail as possible on to each character sprite using their official concept work.

One thing about Spring Man Megaman 7 8bit is his height. Its inaccurate. He should be a little bit taller. Anyway, I found really cool sprite for Spring Man 8 bit that have correct height and better than this one. It is still the same as team developer that design Megaman 7 8 bit.

I think that was due to the NES's limited color palette. It's not the same for MM 10 though cause that was intentionally designed as an 8-bit game and they simply reused sprites from earlier games (with the exception of SlashMan and FrostMan which were custom made for 10).

Technically, there are 7 fire based RMs.
FireMan, HeatMan, PharaohMan, FlameMan, SwordMan, MagmaMan, and lastly SolarMan. And I would say, while their powers are similar, they all have unique ways of utilizing it, especially the ones from later games.
