I have to say thank you to the whole Deviant Art community - I have, frankly, been quite astonished at the reaction to this piece of work today

Your mines have givien me an idea for a smart mine.

They look like underwater mines & about the size of a soft ball.
Scater them on the ground & thery open up like micanical spiders & spred out around the aria you want to mine.
They hide or bury themselfs & use a periscope to watch out for intruders.
Insted of blowing up on the spot, they discurage the intruder away or the mine will lach on to them & give them a limited time to leave the aria.
If a mine is distroyed or detonated, the rest of the mines will be awere & atemt to close the open gap in the mine field.
