For the lives of all in the Whismur line, sound is everything.

From birth and until their first evolution, Whismur are completely blind and physical strength is near non-existent.
until they become Loudred, their only means of survival is either running away or screaming so loudly that their predators are forced to retreat and leave them alone. Similar to Nidoran, they are small creatures that are quite numerous in numbers and are usually too physically weak to fight back, making them the favorite prey to many predator Pokemon such as Mightyena, Linoone, Swellow, Vigoroth, Seviper and Zangoose.

As Whismur evolve into Loudred, the number of predators they have decreases majorly, save for Pokemon that are only slightly larger than it and work in packs like Mightyena and Zangoose. but even then, selecting one of these as a prey item is still considerably dangerous, as a threatened Loudred's scream is loud enough to destroy ones' eardrums, rendering them completely deaf.
Loudred are omnivores, meaning that even though most of their diets consist of fruit, berries and vegetation, they don't particularly shy away from smaller and weaker Pokemon such as Skitty, Poliwag, Ralts/Kirlia, Plusle/Minun and Spoink.

Onto their final evolutionary stage, Exploud, this is the point where they no longer need to worry about any predators whatsoever,
and this is because Exploud itself is now a dominant predator. Its physical strength has maxed, meaning it now only calls for one quick swipe of its large hands to completely demolish the skull of a Zangoose or Mightyena and bite from their large mouths (capable of unhinging) can snap a Seviper entirely in half.

Unlike its' previous forms, Exploud is a pure carnivore, meaning its diet is exclusively of meat. but despite its awesome power, it is not a very good hunter simply because it is just too slow to chase after prey. so it gets most of its meals from scavenging for rotting carcasses or stealing them from other Pokemon, using its exceptional abilities of intimidation to scare other predators off and taking their kills.

-A roar from an Exploud is about 130 decibels (the sound of a military jet aircraft taking off)

- A woman living in the Sinnoh region was sent to prison after it was discovered that her Whismur had its vocal chords surgically (and illegally) removed. The Nurse Joy responsible for the surgery was stripped of her 'Joy' title and charged with cruelty as well as given a $600,000 fine. the act of devocalizing a Pokemon is very much looked down upon in general, but it is especially seen as cruel to a Pokemon specifically based around the element of sound, which explains why both women received such harsh punishments.

- Whismur have mouths that can open pretty wide, they are capable of swallowing apples whole.

- For Exploud using a Flamethrower attack, the fire has a tendency to not only come from the mouth of the Pokemon, but also from the many open pores on its body, burning everyone and everything around it.

- Ironically, by the time they evolve into Exploud, much of its own hearing has been damaged, only becoming worse as it ages.
in the case of domestic Exploud, many trainers have been known to invest in hearing aids made specifically for their beloved Pokemon.
