I love the concept and poses on the first and second picture.
What doesn't work so well for me is the composition/how the three pictures are put together. The top one leads my eye - following the direction the two figures are looking into - to the top right and out of the image. When I come back and look at the water picture, the curve and gaze lead me to the right, again out of the image. The jumping image leads my eye to the left, out of the image.
I think if the hippocamp were on the left, the other two on the right, and the first picture flipped horizontally, there might be more of a circular eye-path that would encourage the viewer to look at the image for longer.
The three little images look great individually.

I agree the composition didn't turn out as well as I'd envisioned it - I got the idea of the positioning of the background boxes and then fit the figures in over them where there was space. It's a learning experience; I'd love to do another one at some point and consider the overall composition more for hopefully a better effect.
