Description
Link is great for drawing out your moods.Maybe he's tired, lonely, or feels a heavy burden on his shoulders. Maybe it's a mix of all these things.
Strangely, it's a lot of fun adding tears/rough spots to his clothes.
I haven't worked with this type of lighting in quite a while, it's my favorite to work with!
As for which Link it is, you can decide, although to me it's Wind Waker Link.

It's gorgeous. And I think it could be WW or Oracle Link, but probably closer to Wind Waker.

wow, you did a really great job with the lighting! The background really enhances the fact that his right side is in shadow, and the highlights remind me of a glimmer of light trying (and possibly failing) to brighten his day. His poor soulful eyes! Though I feel bad for him, I have to admit, he looks very cute like this

Thank you very much!! Sad characters are fun to draw, which almost seems cruel, haha. Maybe it's that part of our nature where we want to console?

You're very welcome! It may be cruel, but I do it all the time, border lining almost always I definitely agree that as humans we want to help and care for others (well, for those of us who possess sympathy and empathy). And portraying the injured or the forlorn is a challenge to the viewer to feel for the character. I feel like these kind of drawings are the most powerful, in my opinion

This is really well drawn though. I have always admired your greystyle art as well as your colored ones.

Haha, before I read your artist's comments I was like, Man, I love this lighting!
It sure looks like fun to do! And you do it wonderfully. It just adds such perfect depth to the mood here.
This is just so great and emotive. Love it.

It is fun! You should give it a try sometime !
Thank you very much! I was sort of worried that maybe it would come across as too dramatic, so that's good to know. I still think it's really cool that I'm actually chatting with the one who's artwork I admired so much from that Nintendo Power magazine several years ago

*lol* You saw that, huh? Hee hee.... I went crazy when my mother pointed it out to me----she's a secretary at an institute of religion just off my old college campus, and so visits with students a lot. Somebody had passed it on to her, and when I saw her later she passed it on to me----Made. My. Day.
And too dramatic? Heh, I think it has just the right amount of drama.
It just seems like this.... tiny, tender little gloominess.
Also I need to say I love how much contrast you've got going on. It really makes this picture pop.

Who wouldn't be excited to have a drawing published in a magazine?! It's one of my favorite Zelda fan arts ever btw! And you are REALLY skilled with color pencils!
Thank you! I'm a really big fan of intense contrast. I gotta use it more often
